It bombed....along with most albums this year. The fact that the top 5 are Taylor, two albums from 2023, Cowboy Hype, and then an album from 2022.. yikes.

Surprised (happily) to see the lack of Billie on the lists. Guess her singles really aren't as strong as ATRL pushes?

Only thing missing is another Piper Perri for it to be one for each Taylor album. :dies:

Yup her lead single flopped once again, had to roleplay as a poet now an album track from 5 years ago and a single promoter last year will be her biggest hit this year

Her inability to make a proper single is really a sight to behold

Eh? What a weird take literally has on the biggest single of the decade and Anti Hero also smashed. Fortnight never was set to smash as single, not that kind of song. Still has 500 M of streams just in Spotify in two months and without needing airplay

I guess I'm just frustrated over the fact that she really hasn't created a Single that checks all the right boxes for Singles nowadays.

she's going oddly specific in one direction or the other, it's like she's trying too darn hard & made her songs more complicated than need be for todays standard.

Cruel Summer is a very basic song. Flowers is a very basic song (doesn't even have a Bridge), as it was, STAY, Last Night, & espresso are ALL very basic songs. The effort she puts in into her Singles are definitely overdone and not translating.

All she had to do is keep it simple like she unintentionally did with CS and she'd for sure have another CS with TTPD. But Christ doing it, she prefers keeping her Taylorian style of writing Singles and it continues to not be connecting

This essay :deadbanana2:

All for a song that cleared 500 million Spotify streams faster than Anti-Hero. Taylor's standards are insane. Fortnight is holding up well and will be another billion streamed single for Taylor.

Again what a weird take. She has had two smash hits in 2022-2023 with Anti Hero and Cruel Summer, you are intentionally ignoring Anti Hero just to try that narrative. Both smash in streams, radio and digital sales (considering nowadays standards). There's literally nothing that you could ask for them. And TTPD just like folklore is not an album design for having a song like that.
