Virgos Groove Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Okay, I know a Twitter user having a dumb take is not exactly news, but the sheer homophobia and slutshaming in the replies left me a bit worried. It's like the spirit of Ronald Reagan took over those qrts. Luckily, there were also plenty of people dragging this dumbass: Quote And this tweet which brings up a great point: Which brings me to my question: why is it that people always want things to have "consequences" and why is averting them seen as a bad thing? Is it a global phenomenom or is it just a Western thing? Could it be influenced by Christianity, which is built on the concept that you will pay for your sins in the afterlife? Madonna had this great quote on Catholicism that I think could apply here: Quote Once you're a Catholic, you're always a Catholic — in terms of your feelings of guilt and remorse and whether you've sinned or not. Sometimes, I'm wracked with guilt when I needn't be, and that, to me, is left over from my Catholic upbringing. Because in Catholicism, you are born a sinner, and you are a sinner all of your life. No matter how you try to get away from it, the sin is within you all the time… Catholicism is not a soothing religion. It's a painful religion. We're all gluttons for punishment. Also, we DESPERATELY need more sex education for the youth. So much of the recent discourse reminds of 80s/early-90s puritanism. 5 5
gm4567 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 There are sooooo many miserable people on that app its unreal. Obsessed with wanting to sound smart and dissecting every little thing. 4 3
Dear Reader Posted July 13 Posted July 13 The thing I hate the most are conservative gays. Straights are not going to like you more. They still hate you. 12
Rev8 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 The fact is - Sexual Health education is really low why so many dumbass takes get such viral numbers... 1
Mordecai Posted July 13 Posted July 13 People with HIV don't walk around with a sign on their forehead saying they have it, wtf is this take 1
Archetype Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Shameful tbh. This medication could quite literally wipe out HIV from most countries within our lifetimes and people are still not understanding that. Anyone who has a lot of random anonymous sex, especially unprotected, should be taking Prep, regardless of their sexuality. 4
longjohn9898 Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Ignorance about this disease is so sad. Sex education and education in general is clearly lacking.
Princess Aurora Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Well Twitter is not real life luckily but this is what its userbase looks like
godmess Posted July 14 Posted July 14 There's always a cause and effect. Prep can cuz a great about of damage if taken routinely for years and years. That's why some doctors don't want to prescribe it. Medication isn't neutral.

You get routinely tested for kidney function. If your numbers are concerning, you're not getting it prescribed. I'd also love some example of doctors who work in sexual health and are against PrEP, because I've never encountered one. 2

Bubble Tea Posted July 14 Posted July 14 ATRL is very puritanical and anti-sex so y'all should study up yourselves. 11 minutes ago, Margaux said: ingesting medications would still f up ur kidneys, not that im against it but it's common knowledge It is not "common knowledge", it is a myth.
JoeAg Posted July 14 Posted July 14 I don't wanna sound all like intense or anything. I do wish more people were more aware of sexual health in general. as someone who is hypersexual and has gone through some crazy ups and downs having to do with sex in general, I know how scary everything can seem at first. but the first step to really get our community thriving like never before is to get educated and be aware of what HIV actually is. I don't personally have it but I know plenty of people who do and I talk to a lot of undetectable people, or rather people who just so HAPPEN to be undetectable, catch my drift? I had one of the best hookups of my life on friday night with one of the handsomest f*cking guys I've met in probably years (GOD i'm already lowkey vibing with him hardcore, which is not something that usually happens after just one hookup I really hope we hang again soon!), and he just so HAPPENS to be undetectable. but I know what that means, and I've done my research and had my formative conversations and internet wormholes. we need to destigmatize HIV and HPV and even herpderp. my best friend has been turned away so many times for that last one because people are so UNEDUCATED on these matters! our incredible community which has endured insane hardships is stronger united, and idk why that's STILL so hard for people to comprehend 1

rzal Posted July 14 Posted July 14 I lost so many braincells reading replies to that tweet There was also another sorta viral tweet about undetectable HIV positive people Talking about how it's rape to not disclose the status even if you can't transmit the virus 12 minutes ago, Margaux said: how is it a myth. pills don't get magically absorb by our bodies without consequences Literally every medication has side effects. Birth control for women is way worse yet millions take it.
MattieB Posted July 17 Posted July 17 That is to say people with hiv do not deserve sex, that's a braindead take 1

Slap Posted July 21 Posted July 21 The irony is this person rawdogs and never gets STI tests because they're straight and have a much higher chance of getting HIV and spreading it by not taking precautions.
family.guy123 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 If you're secure in yourself this wouldn't bother you. Get off the internet
John Slayne Posted July 21 Posted July 21 conservatism and sex negativity is a form of brain rot. also yes in this case it is also homophobic.
