The press finally got its chance to question Biden, and the president emerged mostly unscathed

For nearly an hour Thursday evening, President Joe Biden went toe-to-toe with the press corps — and, perhaps against the wishes of some in his own party, managed to exit the high stakes showdown mostly unscathed.

Fielding a barrage of tough questions, Biden addressed 11 outlets during his closely watched dance with the news media, reiterating again and again that he plans to stay in the 2024 race, while also displaying an impressive command of complex foreign policy matters.

They're right. The hysterics are dying down. There was no mass mutiny last night. There's been no deluge of calls for his resignation today. It's a pretty quiet Friday after the past week.

Because people are deluding themselves into buying the slop Biden was selling last night. Sure, he didn't bungle anything like he did on the debate stage (except referring to Kamala as Vice President Trump), but he was pretty low energy and is a shell of his former self; it wasn't a disaster, but he was not rousing in the way he needed to be to meet the moment. He's being graded on a huge curve and it's not enough to take down Trump

Reports that several in the trump camp are happy because they think it means he'll stay in and trump will win by a landslide

He existed in the context in which he lived and it shows.

It's been refreshing today to see the focus back on how unfit Trump is rather than the Dems sabotaging their own candidate (as of now) - at least outside these insular posts.

Reminds me of the Hillary camp. Hopefully it works out the same way.

It's a press conference for NATO. He is supposed to be unscathed.  It's not like he went into battle.  The fact that (1) we even had this headline and (2) is qualified by "mostly" is concerning.
