PlERRE Posted July 13 Posted July 13 I wonder if her team is considering removing the song once the album is released, changing the album, cancelling the album, starting again... 1

Considering the level of intelligence and self awareness of Katy and her team, I fully expect her to double down and release a remix of the song with like Justin Timberlake and JK Rowling. Komet Posted July 13 Posted July 13 https://themusic.com.au/features/katy-perry-womans-world-review-feminism/ Katy Perry 'Woman's World': Is The Feminism in the Room With Us Right Now? "She is all the non-specific, positive adjectives and vague cliches we associate with womanhood from tampon and razor commercials and nothing more." At 2 minutes and 42 seconds, a bridgeless verse-chorus-verse-chorus, it is an easy digestion. Sure, it sounds a lot like Lady Gaga's Stupid Love whilst attempting to create the same global movement as Born This Way, but the thing that Woman's World reminds me of most is actually Barbie. No, not Aqua's Barbie Girl (Katy could only dream), but Barbie the doll and titular character in the recent movie. [...] Ultimately, Woman's World suffers from the same shortcomings as the concept of Barbie: devoid of any substance, an artificial trivialisation disconnected from reality created for and by the male gaze. If the Barbie comparison wasn't evident enough, we move to the accompanying, overtly sexual and ham-fisted music video. Katy has been hitting the gym and/or the Ozempic and has a rockin' bod to show for it. She has always been smoking hot, but the way that she can look so sexy whilst also making you cringe should be studied. She dances around, scantily clad on a fake construction site brandishing a bedazzled drill and a sex toy before being crushed by an anvil…um…yay feminism!!?? [...] Katy Perry's legacy used to be a Teenage Dream but now it's more of an early mid-life crisis nightmare. Unfortunately for her, Katy Perry is a Barbie Girl in a Woman's World. Come on Barbie, let's go retire. 12
BraveNewSeth Posted July 13 Posted July 13 That nun quote is ******* insane I honestly don't think there's anyway to come back from that. 1
Jay07 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 I never thought I'd say this but I actually feel a little sorry for her (as sorry as you can feel for someone worth 300 million dollars). These are brutal. She probably thought she was coming for another Teenage Dream collapse and they are tearing her apart limb from limb. 1
Nova_23 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 I'm gonna need Kesha to pop back out with her "LOL" shirt now that this is a certified critical and commercial BOMB. Could you guys imagine 2

This is what happens when you put your morals aside trying to get a quick little hit. Her working with Dr. Luke despite knowing what happened with Kesha (and other artists too like Kelly Clarkson and I believe even P!nk…have spoken about how terrible of a person Dr. Luke was to them) just so she can try to get a quick little hit makes these lashings that much more sweet. This is more than well deserved. 21 4

The best thing about all this is that no one with the smallest amount of integrity or shame (so everyone except Nicki) will accept to work with him ever again. There's blood in the water. 3 2

Nicki is one of the only artist to call out Luke & the allegations against him by name. SFG was produced by Malibu Babie - she's signed to prescription records, but Nicki did not work with Luke directly - he's credited as a byproduct. Nicki said she wanted to specifically highlight a female producer. She has since gone on to sign Lourdiz, essentially allowing her the ability to free herself from prescription/not have to rely on him. Edited July 13 by FOCK 2

oli more Posted July 13 Posted July 13 The Pitchfork guy who wrote the review is very clearly a LM and a hater of Katy… his social media was very clear about it. That's why its mostly a roast and bullying essay more than an actual critic. A good example of bad """journalism""". 16
Junlin Posted July 13 Posted July 13 No matter who wrote it a liddo or not, she deserves all the lashings for working with dr luke, she should've known better, unless she was FORCED like Kesha in Die Young situation. 8
