Beyonce yet again changed her image and sound, leaned into House music and excited the GP with lyrics anyone could relate to. Beyonce also was coming off of multiple, universally acclaimed singles and albums that were important in black culture and created a pop culture phenomenon. Break My Soul even created a pop music phenomenon, as so many of the girls are experimenting with House, including Katy who is sampling a major underground House song on her new album, 143. Katy is getting dragged because shes come off a string of stinkers (both albums and singles) and has seemed to have minimal artistic growth in her absence from pop. The song is unfortunately generic. The disappointment is valid here, the song was hyped up for weeks and seems to sound like a filler song. I see why they arent sure if she cares as much, this single doesn't scream "Hungry for a comeback". 3 3
jakeisphat Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Quote When she half-asses something, you can really tell: Rhyming "trouble" with "bubble" would be a slam-dunk on a track about a sexy foam party, but Katy wasted it on a reggae song about the dangers of technology, or whatever. And yet, when she describes women as "so intelligent," she sings it in this halting, unintentionally patronizing rhythm that leaves you no choice but to assume she's being sarcastic. 1

I see why they arent sure if she cares as much, this single doesn't scream "Hungry for a comeback". Break My Soul release wasn't changing her image (there wasn't even a music video) and the lyrics were nothing special It sounded like a 2016 demo meant for an H&M playlist. There was nothing groundbreaking or elevating about that song. Once Renaissance dropped (which is actually a 10/10 masterpiece! We stan!) "Break My Soul" became a distant memory to everyone even fans who now rank it consistently as one of the weakest songs on the album. The universal praise for it to the point of even Rolling Stone naming it one of the greatest songs ever is absolutely a showcase of the dynamics and agenda behind critical praise Woman's World sucks but also critical praise is borderline worthless in 2024 — both can be true. 1
ThePopStop Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Quote Sometimes, the universe completes the bit for her: "The One That Got Away" was the only single from her gargantuan 2010 album Teenage Dream that didn't reach No. 1 on the Hot 100. Quote She is pop music's Jenna Maroney, meeting every challenge with a vacant stare and nothing less than 150% commitment. Quote it took the core elements of Gaga's music—slightly nonsensical lyrics, acid-trip concept, a general struggle with vowels Quote Even if "Woman's World" didn't sound like its author had to have feminism explained to her by the top half of the first page of Google Quote If Perry was willing to cop the built-in bad press of making a song about women's lib with an alleged abuser, shouldn't the song at least be a banger? And the kicker... Quote In the immortal words of Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, uttered moments before she died: "Katy Perry, please stop." ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ I'm dying after reading this. Whether you agree or not, this is music review journalism at its best. 3 2

Billboard and RS always name biggest artists in their lists just for the sake of clicks and popularity. Let me remind you that singles from Madonna's last 3 albums were also on their YEC. What about pitchfork? It was acclaimed by them you said. https://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/katy-perry-womans-world/ Quote ThereThere seems to have been a miscalculation, though: "Stupid Love" worked not because of its sound but because it took the core elements of Gaga's music—slightly nonsensical lyrics, acid-trip concept, a general struggle with vowels—and turned them up to 11.

Popular Post BrattyBottom Posted July 12 Popular Post Posted July 12 A brand new skulldrag! https://www.businessinsider.com/katy-perry-womans-world-song-review-2024-7 Quote Katy Perry's new song 'Woman's World' isn't as bad as we feared. It's worse. So much has evolved since then, but apparently, not for Perry. Somehow, she still thinks that reciting a list of random adjectives and haphazardly conflating stilettos with strength is the epitome of feminism. 1 18

Not Business Insider providing the most factually accurate and correct wording of the lawsuit discussion among all those reviews Quote Kesha's civil complaint details a decade of life-threatening eating disorders and psychological torture at the hands of Dr. Luke, the man who discovered her as a teenager. It includes the allegation that he drugged and raped her. Dr. Luke has denied everything. Dr. Luke was never convicted in a court of law. His lawyers fought Kesha's civil suit on technical grounds, and it was dismissed in 2018 because the statute of limitations had expired, not because her claims were deemed meritless. Similarly, when Dr. Luke countersued Kesha for defamation, the case never reached a jury. Instead, the parties reached an undisclosed settlement last year. 15

It would've made much more sense to release this 10 years ago and release "Roar" now as a response to her last album flopping. This has to be ironic, though, right?! Nobody could be this stupid to release a song like this immediately after the repeal of Roe v. Wade while women are having their medical records exposed like subhuman animals for crossing state lines to get abortions. But I think if it was prism ten years ago it would only be a cutesy fan fave like WOA or LL. it wouldn't even get to single status 7 hours ago, Stifler's Mom said: Where is Gaga right now?
