Yeah . . . these are much deserved lashings (plus she's MAGA). It would've made much more sense to release this 10 years ago and release "Roar" now as a response to her last album flopping.

This has to be ironic, though, right?! Nobody could be this stupid to release a song like this immediately after the repeal of Roe v. Wade while women are having their medical records exposed like subhuman animals for crossing state lines to get abortions. :deadbanana2:

The song is ridiculous. The video is ridiculous. She is ridiculous. What would you expect?!

Her review of Bebe Rexha's first album still haunts me, rent free:

Spoiler

Expectations ticks every box on pop's checklist in admirably perfunctory style: there are the songs about anxiety (I'm a Mess, Sad), the one that sounds like Migos (Mine), the one that features one of Migos (2 Souls on Fire), the Latin one (Shining Star), the tropical house one complete with "dolphin whine" (I Got You) and so on. The only remotely distinctive song is Ferrari, a song about how "living in the fast lane's getting kinda lonely" that lands somewhere between Maren Morris's (much better) My Church and Rag'n'Bone Man's (much worse) Human.

For as much commotion as she's causing on here she's a non factor when it comes to the real world. Even among my pop circles no one really cares about her enough to talk about what she's up to so seeing all this chatter on here feels disorienting. Almost like I simultaneously am too young for this site and outgrew it at same time. :deadbanana:

Same. I'm gen Z and seeing people on here regularly bring up the likes of Katy, Xtina, Celine, and even Britney to an extent is always so... :deadbanana:

It's nothing like that. It's pretty clear that she's very aware that this is her last chance saloon - she's nearly 40 and wants to stay relevant and get another hit - which there's nothing wrong with - it's her career and she should want to succeed. But where she went wrong is she thought Dr. Luke was the answer to that because of all their previous hits together. She refrained from working with him for years because of the Kesha situation, but when she saw that Nicki and Doja were scoring hits with him she thought "if they can do it then why can't I?" What she didn't consider is that people will come down harder on her than those other artists because unlike Nicki or Doja, Katy was actually involved in the Kesha case (whether she should have been or not is a different matter - but she was involved).

The right answer is usually the simplest one. There's no need to come up with elaborate excuses for her.

I agree. But I simply can't imagine her being sane and deciding that. Just like I can't imagine how many people this decision had to go through and no one stopped it from happening. I refuse to accept that it was that simple because I just don't understand.

At this point she should realize that she was lucky to even reach this kind of success with how little artistry she has into her. She had no idea what GP actually wanted from her and made a project combined of things that NO ONE WANTED.

Oh wow you actually did sth here :clap3:it also worked for Doja and Nicki because they are female rappers. Usually the GP dont care about how messy rappers are.

It's definitely a weak song, but tbh I started thinking how it reminds me of "Break My Soul" and pondered exactly how Beyonce got such universal acclaim with also a dated 2016 sounding Dance-Pop empowerment song as her comeback single :deadbanana2:

"Break My Soul" was the most acclaimed song of 2022 period and yet this is a disaster on the ears to the same critics :skull: This song unironically once again shows how useless and agenda driven critics are honestly

I agree, BREAK MY SOUL is SUPER BAD but Critics will kiss Beyoncé's ass no matter how atrocious her record is

That said, the panning of Woman's World is so deserved
