I've been scouring oldTRL but I remembered them archiving the Kworb: CTTR 45k thread.

The GIFs there were hilarious.

I'm going crazy with all these Katy threads. no one irl cares about her. This site can really be a wormhole into another universe at times.

For those saying it's a harmless basic song at worst, it isn't. Katy Perry, her team, her label, all the people involved around this project chose or approved or agreed or didn't vote against this song to be in her album, let alone a lead single no less, is very problematic. The way this song had to go through that many people to be made and to be released but still approved shows those people don't think there is something wrong with it. Her circle of music industry is rotten and that is very harmful.

This tbh :deadbanana:

Nobody at Capitol warned her about this? This is one of the most gigantic miscalculation movement in recent pop culture.

In the immortal words of Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, uttered moments before she died: "Katy Perry, please stop."

I actually laughed so hard I cried :bibliahh:

Is this possibly the most iconic P4K review of the last ten years???  And the Stupid Love comparison, oh my god :deadbanana4:

Judging by those bizzare videos of her in a bathing suit playing Kim Petras-lite snippets and obnoxiously chewing gum, I really don't think acclaim is part of her comeback plan

Maybe bad press is exactly the plan? I thought releasing a feminist song produced by Luke was just down to her being completely stupid (which, she is), but it's so stupid that maybe it has to be deliberate? And this single feels significantly less dead on arrival than Small Talk, Daisies, 365, When I'm Gone etc so for now it's kind of working but I have no idea what this means for her long-term.

Coming for that 30 metacritic score :WAP:

Yes the song and video are both terrible but these lashings feel extra brutal. Taking into consideration that she chose to work with DL she brought it on herself. I was thinking of the forced jlo hate, I don't like jlo myself but I'm also not sure why people perpetually hate her but in Katy's case I feel like people were rooting for her prior to the DL news. You can make a bad song and sure stan twitter will do their little lashings but to make a woman empowerment song with your ex-friends rapist, you had it coming. It makes me wonder what she expected to come from this..

Shes been making the same disposable music for over a decade now. It's looking like 3 back to back flop albums and only one good song since 2013 (NRO) and I only say this because its clear WW is her doing anything and everything for chart success but what she should have done was go back to OOTB sound and not worked with DL. Even if wasn't a chart success she had the chance to deliver something with substance, kept her dignity and and it wouldn't have blown back in her face. I checked out of this era the minute I heard she was collaborating with DL but shes made it very easy to do so.

'Katy Perry, please stop', begged Spotify. Then the streams collapsed and died.

I severely doubt Katy is that smart.

'Woman's World' Is the Stalest Sort of Retread'

It takes a level of cognitive dissonance to sing about strength and sisterhood over a beat co-produced by an alleged rapist. (When Luke and Kesha settled his defamation lawsuit in 2023, he continued to deny wrongdoing. Perry's lawyers once accused Kesha of telling "outrageous lies" about Luke in the case.) As a project, the song has empowered more men than women: Perry's writing team included four men in total, plus Chloe Angelides, a writer published by Luke's Prescription Songs

For as much commotion as she's causing on here she's a non factor when it comes to the real world. Even among my pop circles no one really cares about her enough to talk about what she's up to so seeing all this chatter on here feels disorienting. Almost like I simultaneously am too young for this site and outgrew it at same time. :deadbanana:
