its crazy how katy built up some good will over the years just to completely miss the mark on what she needed to deliver. the majority of us saw this coming; hell even helen keller would've seen this critical + commercial failure a mile away so the fact that people on her payroll approved this to launch her comeback is worrying...i feel slightly bad for her fans as she was showing signs of growth with NRO/HIH (both well made pop songs with personality) just to lose any shred of respect and good will she had going into this era by delivering the most tone-death garbage i've heard.

 

abandoning your morals to work with a rapist is one thing…but to do so and then deliver a turd and receive a mass PANNING from everyone and the worst single reception of your career is another. how depressing

she has SO much good will from the public from all her songs going viral on TikTok in the last 1-2 years.

 

But she comes out with the most BASIC ass track made by Dr. Luke with the same cringey visuals she's been doing for years. 
 

So much time to put together an excellent album and serve something new and alas here we are. Her pop star career is just over tbh. Her name will always be known but she just has no idea what she's doing. I suspect her entire team is 35+ years old and are just very out of touch.

Defying all sense of taste, the pop singer's comeback single is too dispiriting to even approach camp. It's abysmal.

 

With its pulsating synths and steamroller chorus, "Woman's World" is clearly modeled on Lady Gaga's 2020 single "Stupid Love," a brazen return to form that successfully launched Gaga into the second act of her career. There seems to have been a miscalculation, though: "Stupid Love" worked not because of its sound but because it took the core elements of Gaga's music—slightly nonsensical lyrics, acid-trip concept, a general struggle with vowels—and turned them up to 11. It's mystifying why Perry would have chosen to mount her comeback with a vaguely political song—you just get the sense that she just doesn't really like or care about this stuff.
