Virgos Groove Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Quote A court in south-west Spain has sentenced 15 schoolchildren to a year's probation for creating and spreading AI-generated images of their female peers in a case that prompted a debate on the harmful and abusive uses of deepfake technology. Quote "Many girls were completely terrified and had tremendous anxiety attacks because they were suffering this in silence," she told Reuters at the time. "They felt bad and were afraid to tell and be blamed for it." Quote Police identified several teenagers aged between 13 and 15 as being responsible for generating and sharing the images. Under Spanish law minors under 14 cannot be charged but their cases are sent to child protection services, which can force them to take part in rehabilitation courses. The Guardian Horrifying stuff. 2
Luckitty Posted July 10 Posted July 10 They should've been sentenced to jail this stuff shouldn't be tolerated 10
bad guy Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Good. Actions have consequences and this is in the same vein as sexual harassment/assault but at least one month in jail would be a stronger message. 3
Odette Violet Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Scary times. Imagine how they will do once they are adults, women aren't safe
Trent W Posted July 10 Posted July 10 There is absolutely nothing good coming from those AI text to image products They should ban them but I think is too late 1

LIMA Posted July 10 Posted July 10 What I find weird about these news is how they label everything AI now. No AI will output porn, they are using photoshop no? Its just that its easy access now, every teen knows how to manipulate a picture.

It makes too much money now for people. Best governments can do now is put in laws and regulations for responsible use. 7 minutes ago, LIMA said: What I find weird about these news is how they label everything AI now. The public facing Chat GPT is regulated but LLMs by their nature can give any kind of response you want. 1

From 2017 on there were multiple OpenSource free p*rn deep fake creator softwares circulating on the internet until the EU cracked down on it in 2019. You just needed a picture of a face and it would create realistic deep fake p*rnographic images with just one click.
discosean Posted July 10 Posted July 10 There needs to be stricter and harsher penalties for doing things like that. 1
PrettyHurts Posted July 10 Posted July 10 people saying "lock them up" about children they shouldn't have gotten their hands on that kind of technology anyway. there needs to be strciter ai laws and stricter parents 4 1

CottageHore Posted July 10 Posted July 10 13 and 15? Good God. I am so concerned for today's youth. They're being born into a world that is developing so many new insidiously dangerous things and nothing is being done (fast enough) to put comprehensive age restrictions on all this. Kids can access everything adults can with a simple check of "I'm over 18". It's insane and disgusting and as adults we need to do more to protect these kids 2
DevilsRollTheDice Posted July 10 Posted July 10 (edited) The culprits should absolutely be punished (won't pretend to know what the best punishment is under these circumstances), people must understand this is 100% unacceptable. With that said, you have to feel for today's youth who are given internet capable devices in the cradle where all sorts of alt-right/extremist views are pushed onto them by the algorithms big tech companies refuse to control. Social media, and the internet, need major MAJOR regulation for so many reasons. Edited July 10 by DevilsRollTheDice 1

Generative diffusion models (i.e., text-to-image AI models) just learn a relationship between textual descriptions and their corresponding images and then generate new images based on that. If the models have been trained on p*rnographic images and text pairs, then it will be able to output p*rnographic images. These images are no different to one of these models than a picture of a cat.

Dark web of course, you can expect anything.
