Uncatena Posted July 9 Posted July 9 hm, i dont hate the concept and if Meryl is back im definitely in! and personally, Emily Blunt was my favorite part of the first one so more of her would be great as well!

There are so many interesting places they could go with showing the decline of print media and how Miranda deals with losing her influence. I trust Meryl would not have signed on if the script wasn't good so I'm cautiously optimistic. doesn't seem like there's a script yet, just a pitch/premise? "The original film's screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna ("Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," "Your Place or Mine") is in talks to return to pen the next chapter.." https://variety.com/2024/film/news/the-devil-wears-prada-sequel-disney-1236062923/ (I didn't know the Devil Wears Prada screenwriter was responsible for Your Place or Mine )
Hurem Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I'm glad they're doing a sequel and not some shitty remake that Hollywood is obsessed with.
Bloodflowers. Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Finally a girls' girl movie I will be seated for this, Freaky Friday 2 and Legally Blonde 3

Acuminatus Posted July 10 Posted July 10 It doesn't need a sequel but as long as they don't retcon anything from the first film I don't mind even if the sequel is mediocre
chiliam Posted July 10 Posted July 10 i will be seated Lets them do those sequels to the beloved classic, it could be bad but it could also be very good. Usually for those sequels, there`s a clear passion behind rather than cash grab (yeah for sure the studio want to make more money on nostalgia, but most of those projects took years to get make is because the studio doesnt believe in those until someone really really passionate about the original come up with a good enough ideal to convince the studio to greenlit ) Im only against sequel that is clearly cash cow with no passion behind like those transformers movies, fast 5 movies....

Nobody cares about those Transformer and Fast film Fast five is a good pop corn movie though.
Cain Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Please no The movie is PERFECT and quintessential 2000s, a sequel in the current time would never work
Komet Posted July 10 Posted July 10 On the one hand, the first movie is basically perfect and absolutely doesn't need a sequel; all characters were fully developed and their stories got concluded. On the other hand, the fashion industry has changed immensely over that last 2 decades, and a movie dealing with on the fall of printed media, the rise of digital marketing, fast fashion, influencers, death of the supermodel etc has a lot of potential. Almost wish it was set in the same universe but with different protagonists, and the old cast just does cameos. But this is Hollywood, ofc they're brining everybody back.

Da Vinci Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Miranda being a flop fad kinda ruins the essence of Miranda for me, idk
