jomarr Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Despite debuting and peaking at #38 in 2009, Britney's second Greatest Hits compilation has lodged a total of 157 weeks in the UK Albums Chart so far. It has since been included in the Top 100 Best-Selling Albums for the year in the UK since 2021. It currently sits at #95 on the weekly chart. Why? 3
A-V-XYZ Posted July 6 Posted July 6 You're acting like a #38 peak in the UK is good. The album flopped. 1 2 14

D.M.F. ran so fast to comment he didn't even actually read the OP OT: Yes Britney, yes timeless classics spanning decades which is difficult to get - not everybody has that to their credit

Popboi. Posted July 6 Posted July 6 (edited) Very much 90% of the UK album chart is greatest hits collections and somewhat recent big albums, with the other 10% being the weekly new releases. It's more surprising it's TSC charting and not My Prerogative considering the one that sells more gets the streams, and MP was recently released on vinyl. Edited July 6 by Popboi. 3

Nightingale Posted July 6 Posted July 6 The UK charts just benefit greatest hits so much because of the streaming rules 2
Dante Silva Posted July 6 Posted July 6 People like the tangibility of physical product and given that many believe she has "retired", is it so surprising if her most recent Greatest Hits is seen as an irresistible and self contained time capsule of her best work? Most of those sales are likely for CD format from people wanting to hit Amazon order totals that qualify for free shipping and handling.
