prézli Posted July 5 Posted July 5 The only girl group I care about is FLO. They should NEVER disband. 1 1
bwhansen Posted July 5 Posted July 5 I'm still playing Something In The Water a LOT so this is disappointing, but clearly with how little their label put into them I can't say I'm surprised...
paper moon Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Disappointing but not surprising. They gave us some good bops but their label did absolutely nothing with them.
Gossip_Boy Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Their earlier stuff were good. The quality dropped a bit over time but still. Disbanding after like 5 years without ever releasing a proper album is sad.
Exodus Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Hmm I thought they had caught some success with their random performances in Asia and what looked like budget for their last MV, but alas, another group bites the dust in the US. What boy or group is left here??
Scandalous Posted July 7 Posted July 7 i'm disappointed, they barely even started never even released an album can't say i'm surprised tho, none of their songs ever took off and their team/label didn't seem to be doing much. i'm scared the same fate is coming for FLO
Attitude Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Kpop has completely taken over the teen market and I don't see the tides changing anytime soon. Western boy/girl groups are not in trend right now.

shelven Posted July 8 Posted July 8 In all seriousness, I've always wondered how these groups that never take off commercially or even generate a sizeable niche fanbase stay together for as long as they do from a purely financial standpoint. Like... did these women have part time jobs while they were pursuing this? Do they all have wealthy parents who were fully bankrolling their lives this entire time? I know they were signed to a label and so they probably got some sort of advance for promotional activities, but how were they earning enough income for their regular day-to-day living? No shade to this group in particular, but I've always been fascinated by these Z-list groups that somehow manage to stay together for like 3-5 years even when their music isn't selling or streaming at all.

Western boy/girl groups are not in trend right now. Yeah Korean groups have basically eaten the entire US market for pop groups at this point. Any domestic groups are at a major disadvantage because they don't have access to the ecosystem of music shows, the variety show circuit, company fanbases, etc to promote. Plus Korean entertainment companies have mastered the formula for parasocial relationships too well.
