This is far from a great movie, but it is an entertaining one.  The last 30 minutes of the movie are a banger. The acting is strong from Andra Day, Glenn Close,  Mo'Nique, and Aunjanue and this basically has everything you could want from an exorcist movie in the second half after it's not so much of a family drama.

Glenn Close's physical looks in the movie alone are a hoot :lmao:

Easily the worst movie I've watched this year.

the writing was abysmal. the acting from Andra was AWFUL & her character was so one-dimensional. At one point she said she knew the house was messing with her kids but then the lady came and told her that and she acted like she was crazy.

I was LAUGHING at all the scenes where they tried to instill any horror elements. The first half was a bore. Soooo much focus on their life being a mess and the family drama.

Big yikes.

Hmmmm.

i don't think it was entertaining at all. The first hour was painfully slow. I also thought Andra's performance was…terrible 😶‍🌫️

Fair enough,  I appreciated it in a so bad it's good sort of way. Sadly probably on the same level as Hillbilly Elegy for Glenn as well.

I've seen clips of this on X and it seems to be a trip of a movie lol, may watch later!

What exactly was "awful" and "one-dimensional" about Andra Day's acting?

Overall, she was great and most of the critics agree.

The worst element was the writing tbh, but the actors did what they could.

Some of these replies are scaring me. The film costed $65 Million. :biblio:

This movie was ENTERTAINING and in a good way.

Glennquisha Closeington was a TRIP. :biblionny:

Most Black people know of that Hood White Mom with the Biracial kids so the referencing was hilarious.

I thought Andra and Aunjanue were great.

The biggest letdown was the script to be honest although I was expecting it.

I found most of her line delivery to be very wooden & I found many of her physical/facial reactions to scenarios very amateur.

I know alot of the issue with the movie is the writing and there's only so much one can do with bad writing but Andra was one of the major weaknesses of this movie. Glenn was great. Monique was good for the role she got.

I think that's another issue with the movie - there were a few scenes that felt like they weren't supposed to be funny but they were. I wasn't sure if it was comic relief or just an unintentional tonal shift. Idk, yall. This movie was BAD bad.

I got to watch this last year through preview club and did the focus group for it. Still gotta watch the final iteration of it, but I enjoyed the film then. Andra Day was THE highlight, and from the clips I've seen they did make an effort to "trim" the film of its boring/confusing parts.
