Don't agree with her, but "musical prostitute" is a hilarious phrase :deadbanana2:

This female rapper conversation is tricky.

There is objectively less lyrical variety in the mainstream female rapper scene than the male rapper scene. A place where both Chief Keef & Joey Badass (a conscious rapper) were both equally anticipated and fanned over during the same year(s). Kendrick Lamar was smashing alongside artists like Future during the 2010s. Until super recently it was normal for your average rap listeners to listen to lyricists and 'vibes' rappers.

Personally, this is on the listener not the industry or those women playing the game. There's no reason Rapsody, Tierra Whack and Noname aren't getting the same coverage as Sexyy, Ice or Megan. It also feels like there's a huge listener divide between mainstream female rappers and the rest that doesn't really exist to the same extent that it does for men. A lot of their listeners don't listen to Rap fr, more interested in imaging and aesthetics (similar to a lot of fans of like Drill music, they just wanna see dudes dressed the same talmbout sliding on opps). There are women not selling sex as on the nose (but they all have songs about sex, just dressed up in more metaphors and entendres) and ironically the only support they have is hip hop heads which is unfortunately the minority nowadays. They don't seem to appeal to casual listeners with more Pop-tuned ears.

Finally... Nicki really doesn't sell sex like that, most of her songs aren't really about sex (granted I don't really listen to her but the albums I have heard were not ***** raps like that). And if what she means is how she presents her body physically... that's questionable.

It's kinda like what happened with Wayne. Later in his career is his most influential period but all the rappers after him took was the tattoos and the drug abuse/not writing raps. They forgot he's actually about the bars. It's not totally Nicki's fault if they are "copying her" but to shitty results.

Musical prostitute is nut ass language though.
