doesn't the constitution prohibit laws like this? or does the separation of church & state doesn't extend to education?

The constitution says whatever you want it to say.  Like any document, a high paid lawyer can make an argument for anything you want.

I thought they're already doing that.

 

This is one of the reasons why churches are flopping lately, because kids can see the hypocrisy of adults at a young age.

It's already taught in schools as a historical text just like other important historical texts from other religions… it didn't need to be codified into law
