She was never a huge celebrity so people don't care. She doesn't have a rabid fanbase that annoys people enough to clapback at her either. She's chilling.

She waited too long before releasing new music and the music is not just it

I like the singles tho but if it was the level of FN and released one year earlier it would have probably did way better

Cuz we all expected it

Bingo. We knew the payola would run out eventually.

She got a lot of lashings with the pre-released singles so by the time the album came about no one expected much from it. Plus, new releases from Taylor, Billie and Charlie kept ATRL busy. Too busy to even discuss Ariana's and Beyoncé's albums struggling

But how? We even have a megathread :suburban:

But since we've been discussing that 'flop' era for over seven months ATRL is just tired of it, and there's nothing else to discuss without making it redundant to the same old topics. As other said, it's not like she's having daily public meltdowns on social media or live TV as other flop eras :eli:

We moved on, as we do. No big deal. Dua's living her best life and doesn't seem to be worried about it either :michael: everyone got their lil licks in at her expense and now it's tired because she isn't responding to it with desperation that people can clown her for.

What are you talking about? Her last album came out in 2020?

The truth is she's actually still a very gp friendly artist, who in part keeps benefitting from her name recognition for her past hits mainly, which are undoubtely all timeless classics. It's not like the gp is really aware of the narrative she's "flopping" (which is not even that true), cuz even for this era she still delivered relatively big hits such as Houdini and TS (at least here in europe I guess) and they'll probably just keep rising overtime. All online pop discourse around her success is often an echochamber inflated with unfair negativity, because she's mistakenly compared to the other pop girls while she is more of a female Weeknd/Bruno Mars. I still remember (when I didn't really follow pop communities) finding very weird seeing youtubers accusing her of still needing prove she wasn't a one hit girl after self titled era, since her other songs besides New Rules had been literally inescapable where I live.

Overlooked? It's all this forum and stan Twitter talked about for a month :suburban:

- Flopping is only a big deal when the artist makes it a big deal. If you aren't being insufferable or delusional, folks dont have much ammo on you

- It's a very crowded year. Even artists with clearly strong eras are fading into the periphery. Nobody is fixated on Dua.

She's just a travel blogger no one cares about her music career, FN was a forced fluke

She's busy going on vacations to gaf

She isn't doing too badly for a book club podcaster who occasionally releases music.

Dua has a lot of goodwill, she uses her platform including her Service newsletter to raise awareness of emerging artists and trendy places, as well as of the human rights violations facing many people around the world.

She's one of the most morally-decent artists out there. She's chill, down-to-earth and a hard person to hate.

She's very in-touch with the problems facing the average person and does seem like a lovely girl. Dua doesn't over-expose herself or try to force her music on people. She just will take another vacation.

Her so-called flopping has been overlooked because Houdini and Illusion are huge songs and I do believe TS should've been the first single. I just feel the song doesn't go anywhere or evolve in the same way the multi-layered Houdini does. I wish TS had a more interesting middle-8 or third section.

Her album under-performed compared to FN but there are hits on the album left like End of an Era and Whatcha Doing?

Dua is not over because of one decent performing album. The 4th album is the one that is make-it-or-break-it for her.

Sorry but where you here when there was a new thread everyday about Houdini underperforming?

There hasn't been any more talk about it because there has been release after release after release. It's just not important atm

It's not. We're just waiting for @Post Malone's part 3 of the evaporation series
