But none of these things are similar to what happened with Charli as she wasn't in a room with them loudly chanting for death to come to any of them. Way different.

 

During the red tv era, she stated that it doesn't matter who ATW is about because it was 10 years ago and she wants fans to view it through the scope of their life.

 

 

Live at the eras tour before the release of speak now tv "I'm not putting out this album so you can go on the internet and defend me against someone you think I wrote a song about 14 years ago". Very clearly more directly condemning that behavior after what happened with Jake during red tv on twitter (which again is a lot different than the Charli situation).

 

 

And in her Instagram post for TTPD, "this period of the authors life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, No scores to settle once wounds are healed. And upon reflection, a good number of them to be self inflicted." Very clearly articulating she doesn't want fans bullying or harassing anyone.

Just going to counter here - these are all great examples of her telling people what she wants or writing a poem that needs to be annotated for her very young and not-yet-educated fans. These are not examples of her explicitly telling her fans to stop attacking people. That would be the difference. She's trying to indirectly tell them to stop in a way that maintains the parasocial relationship that she and her fans enjoy, but she needs to be more direct than that if she actually wants results.
