Popular Post Richie.Valdez Posted June 22 Popular Post Posted June 22 The NYT dragged him for filth in an article published today: Quote "A serial exploiter of women and of Black music and culture, a man who has enjoyed unearned privilege and undeserved successes" Quote "Over the years Mr. Timberlake has not been immune to controversy, just to its consequences. Time after time, he escaped unscathed, looking and, it seemed, feeling just fine, while those around him were left to pick up the pieces." Quote "The memes are hilarious, the tweets are even funnier, but the likeliest case is that Justin Timberlake will be just fine. And even if he's not, there will be other men like him lining up to take his place. The systems that let him flourish are even less vulnerable than the men who have long reaped their benefits." lonnie Posted June 22 Posted June 22 The tide finally turned against him and the women he pushed under the bus didn't even need to do the same to him. Life truly is strange and comes full circle 7
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted June 22 Posted June 22 NYT said let him kick him while he's down, this is savage and petty Someone's going to binge some more coke tonight to cope 1
kataraqueen Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Quote If anyone is to blame for Timberlake benefiting from "unearned privilege," it is the many, many enablers who surround him, including his fans-- who have all bestowed to him whatever privilege he has. He didn't give it to himself. He accepted what was offered. The same is true of Donald Trump. Calling him "Teflon Don" without acknowledging who put the Teflon over him absolves those who are truly responsible. He didn't do it himself. He has always been protected by a slew of people, including millions of fans of his TV career, those who invented and then admired his alleged business acumen, voters, and now even members of Congress and federal judges. We revel in the public humiliation of well-known celebrities, without recognizing or accepting the part we have played in protecting and elevating them. If Timberlake has been immune to the consequences for his actions, it's because he has been left off the hook over and over again. I don't blame him. Who wouldn't accept the adulation of millions, the money that comes with that, and the knowledge that your behavior will be minimized by almost everyone? Go after Timberlake if you enjoy it, and start with the "personal responsibility" baloney, but just remember who enabled him to be driving on that street in his 2025 BMW. He merely took what was freely given. His privilege could have been taken away at any point, but it wasn't. Whose fault is that? I despise how straight white men are given undeserved benefit of the doubt at any moment. Even when a man isn't a fully fleshed out character due to a lack of research, another man will go above and beyond to form a positive background story for the man he knows almost nothing about. Minorities / women literally just don't have that luxury in this frequency. It's why Britney and Janet had their careers ruined. Boys will be boys instead of just being heald fuxking accountable for their actions. It's why RAPE is something that so many adolescent men get away with. 8
dumbsparce Posted June 22 Posted June 22 (edited) It's true but I can't help but roll my eyes with the timing. They could publish an article like this anytime from 2005 to now but ofc they only do it when he's an easy target. Makes you question their true intentions. Edited June 22 by dumbsparce 6
KKKIMO92 Posted June 22 Posted June 22 The sad reality is he is still going to have years of massive touring earnings and he's going to be just fine except from some ego bruise. Compared to what he did to Janet, this is nothing, nothing.
