Give her 30 seconds to break your heart and she'll just do it without showboating with overwrought metaphors. The 'it's self defense until you're building a weapon' line shits on entire careers. Stunning remix. You're going viral bestie 2
ZacXCX Posted June 21 Posted June 21 (edited) Lorde truly found the perfect balance between being poetic and being raw/honest. The way she delivers her verse is straight to the point, yet so striking. Aside from this version in general obviously being incredible, the Brat album cycle as a whole is a masterclass on knowing what resonates with your audience. So many girlies try the I'm gonna give the gays EVERYTHING they want/Serving c*nt period slay wig whatever and it just feels forced + they never end up actually delivering. Charli struck the perfect balance between staying true to herself AND going above and beyond to give material her fanbase actually wants. Having been a fan since What I Like, this has been kinda surreal. Edited June 21 by ZacXCX 3 1

This this and this. lorde really served a writing masterclass within 50 seconds - it's so mindblowing how she covered so much ground with such simple lyrics in a single verse and a chorus. charli on the other hand has really nailed everything about the era 1
