MatiRod Posted June 21 Posted June 21 The album is good and has been well-received by critics. She can still move forward as a cutting-edge R&B diva ala Tinashe, playing festivals, smaller tours, steadily releasing music, without necessarily having huge chart moments. There are more ways to have a career in music other than being a huge superstar, it's all about adjusting expectations and expenses. This doesn't have to be the end of the road at all, especially in the streaming age. 4 2
swiftawaywithme Posted June 21 Posted June 21 It's a miracle if it charts. Maybe she'll outpeak M-Train's new album.
Bey_Rihstan Posted June 21 Posted June 21 (edited) She's playing the 90's game. Ya know when an album would debut at #136 & rise to the top 10. Right? Right? this is all apart of the plan me thinks Edited June 21 by Bey_Rihstan 6
naval23 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 I knew it was bad when I saw "47 people are currently waiting" on YouTube 5 minutes before 1:59 release 14
TaggedGalaxy Posted June 21 Posted June 21 No promo, no videos, no track list, awful single choices, not surprised
Vegvisir Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Normani and her inept team did this to herself. Everyone around her CLEARLY misjudged the popularity and fame of Fifth Harmony and Normani's solo potential. This is why listening to gays and pop stans who gas you up online is never a good idea, because it just doesn't reflect the actual market in any tangible way Literally no one outside of pop standom circles knows who this ***** is! 4

PrettyHurts Posted June 21 Posted June 21 disappointing. there is definitely more she and her team could have done leading up to the release

Bosque Posted June 21 Posted June 21 It's sad because the material is good and she's a decent performer, they should be booking performances and getting her name out there. I don't think it's surprising that an album which was dropped 6 years too late with 0 fanfare is flopping

Gwendolyn Posted June 21 Posted June 21 (edited) I don't see how this is funny at all anymore, It's tragic more than anything. It's sad how badly her management ****** up her career by waiting so long between releases, and how much momentum she had at the beginning and even at the beginning of this era. It's sad how everyone seems to have glee at seeing her downfall. It's sad how her label seems to do bare **** to fight back against the 'lazy' allegations. It's unfortunate how yet again Twitter hype has failed another black female artist. We've seen it with Chole too. People always ask, where are the new black pop girls? Well, they get Twitter hype but it never seems to go anywhere for them or get a strong enough fanbase, many people like tweets; aren't streaming the music and then when they inevitably flop on the charts or underperform, they're dogpiled (by Stan Twitter and our community (i.e Shade Room, Black Twitter, LSA). It seems like that hype works for white female artists (see the massive success of Espresso and Good Luck Babe!) but it never translates for black female artists. Normani will most likely get dropped by RCA after this album; I hope she stays in the public eye and at least tries to release music when she wants to and her fans continue to support her unlike many of you who take full-blown glee in this happening. ATRL Moderator supaspaz Posted June 21 ATRL Moderator Posted June 21 I understand that she was going through the personal events that delayed this album, but once she decided it was finally time, she needed to snap into pop star mode. There was a legitimate opportunity to build on the hype of announcing a release date and she did basically nothing for months. Utterly unsurprising outcome. 7 1
KatyPrismSpirit Posted June 21 Posted June 21 The problem is definitely with RCA. it's like they want to get rid of her? Like how come you have no cd's or vinyls. Nobody gonna get a vinyl of this album in a year. And why is there no music video or any radio. If she was under Republic Records or Interscope, this album would've gone top 10.
