Saintlor Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Yeah the show is boring and the only charismatic character is the one played by Matt Smith With the original show, all main characters (aside from Jon Snow) were charismatic and someone you could root for
Musicmajor Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I think the wait between seasons probably hurt it. The first episode back wasn't particularly that exciting or entertaining either. I personally found myself a little bored trying to get through the episode. That being said, if it picks up with the action and has some OMG moments that go viral and get people talking, I think it'll be fine in the end! 1
LegaMyth Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I'll be honest, there was no hype. They should have green-lit 2 seasons right away, so filming could take place while Season 1 aired. I almost for about S2 premier until I checked IG 2
Gaia Posted June 18 Posted June 18 It had an absurd 2 year break/wait but I think viewership will be consistent because word of mouth is good 2
visions Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I think the more episodes that come out, the more people will want to pick up the show, or maybe they'll wait to binge the whole show. It deserves a bigger viewer base compared to all the drivel that Netflix puts out.
Totami Legend Posted June 18 Posted June 18 they release 8 episodes every 2 years of course the hype is dead like fix your schedule or don't bother at all 2
Karla Cabello Posted June 18 Posted June 18 i feel like they are mishandling this show, blood and cheese could have been a moment if they followed the books. stop whitewashing everyone. there's not supposed to be heroes during the dance, they all do horrible ****
Leptine Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I honestly found myself watching this premiere forgetting majority of dynamics that happened in the first season, 2 years break are simply too much nowadays for a show with a continuative story-plot, plus the general hype around GOT in general has died nowadays. 3
AxelFox Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Yeah I think the long 2 year break between seasons killed a lot of momentum but the show is fantastic and I hope it picks back up! And that season 3 will come no longer than next summer.

BNF91 Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I just think that people aren't super interested in HOTD now. S1, while good, did not have the highs that GoT did and it's hard to keep people interested in the next season after 2 years if that first season wasn't a firecracker. Look at Arcane, that had an even longer wait between seasons but it looks like the hype for S2 is bigger than ever. S1 was pretty universal in its adoration IMO. Same with The Last of Us, I'm willing to bet S2 will be huge, despite a 2 year wait. They could win some audience back if subsequent episodes really kick things up and get people talking. 1
American Nightmare Posted June 18 Posted June 18 (edited) Was the first season received well by the GP? GOT was unavoidable. It felt like everybody and their nans were talking about it, but I don't really remember hearing much about this. Shows like GOT and Breaking Bad became massive because of WOM so if this didn't have the same thing, the drop in ratings isn't shocking. Edited June 18 by American Nightmare
dawnettakins Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Finally some deserved lashings for this overrated franchise.
Zaram Posted June 18 Posted June 18 All the time jumps were a little messy during the first season. But that drop is pretty harsh
Taylor Sniffs Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Not surprised. It's just a bunch of royals visiting each other's palaces with the occasional dragon appearance. 2
Miles. Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Very interesting. As a big fan, I can't say I'm surprised. 3 things: 1. These two year breaks just to get an 8 episode season are killing the hype for all shows. All my friends have been complaining lately that they have to wait 2+ years for HOTD, Stranger Things, Bridgerton, TLOU, Euphoria, and then only get 6-10 eps of content. 2. The GP just isn't as invested in the characters of HOTD. They can't tell all the Targaryens apart, can't remember who is related/married to who and who's on which side, and therefore they aren't attached to any characters (except MAYBE Rhaenyra and Daemon). By S2, GOT had at least 10 characters that everyone knew: Jon, Robb, Cat, Sansa, Arya, Dany, Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei, Joffrey. Jorah, Theon, and Littlefinger arguably as well. 3. There haven't been any OMG WOW moments so far that EVERYONE is talking about. Luke's death in the S1 finale came closest, but obviously was nowhere near as impactful as Ned's death in GOT S1. Blood & Cheese SHOULD have been one of those moments, but the writers failed miserably. So, word of mouth isn't bad for HOTD... but it's nowhere near as good as it was for the first 6 seasons of GOT. In conclusion, S3 needs to come out next summer, the writers need to do a better job of differentiating and highlighting the characters, and the wow moments need to really WOW. 1
fridayteenage Posted June 18 Posted June 18 To be fair those are the tv viewers not the streaming ones. Streaming was more stable. The top scripted cable show was hallmarks when calls the heart with over 2 million viewers.
Paddy Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Sure I didn't even know it season 2 was premiering. Found out about it by pure accident. HBO wasn't even advertising much themselves, they forgot that HOTD isn't the same and as big as GOT was.
