Velvet Night Posted June 18 Posted June 18 This is such a ******* stupid decision especially in 2024. No one is asking for a Dr Puke track. The way she killed her own hype in the matter of hours after the announcement and the snippet doesn't even sound good or catchy. People can excuse a problematic individual (unfortunately) if the music is catchy but she's got neither going for her. 3
aotwbys Posted June 18 Posted June 18 In my opinion, she's sacrificed her entire career to support Kesha, even though the allegations didn't involve her. I don't care about how well the song performs, but I can only imagine how challenging it is to go from the number one spot and completely off the charts because she hasn't been able to work with the producer who helped her create her hits.

Katy returning to Luke the moment she feels it's most convenient PR-wise after having strategically remained silent for years to keep the door open for working with him again in the future because she is desperate and chart-obsessed and couldn't care less about Kesha's experiences is supporting Kesha? ThomasTea Posted June 18 Posted June 18 The most engagement she has had in years. Katy, the generous queen that you are. 2 6

Convenient? It seems counterintuitive to wait an entire decade without collaborating with him. I don't understand how that's convenient in any way.

The fact that you believe Katy supported Kesha because she decided not to engage in the even more morally corrupt behavior of working with Luke during the lawsuit is wild .

She said that just days before her deposition was taken in the case and in her deposition, she said she hasn't had contact with Kesha in years.

It's a significant act of support when she was just coming off a hugely successful Super Bowl performance and now she has to abruptly stop working with the producer who played a crucial role in helping her reach that level of success. Just to remind you, the majority of people didn't criticize her for working with Dr. Luke, they don't even know who he is; instead, they disliked her for cutting her hair, becoming politically outspoken, and not releasing any hit songs.

As you already stated, Katy is unable to get a hit without him (lol) so now that his drama with Kesha is "over" Katy thought it was high time to get some studio time in. unless you are really trying to justify something in your brain, it's not that difficult to see that Katy don't gaf about what happened to Kesha, she just didnt want to get caught in the crossfire 2 1

All of this turmoil for a FLOP single. It's truly what she deserves

Did it ever occur to you that she may have chosen to not work with Luke because she didn't want the backlash from doing so rather than being in solidarity with kesha, which she never publicly stated, unlike her peers Adele, Taylor, Gaga and Beyonce. 2

If career success was her primary motivator, why didn't she make a quick comeback in 2019 when Say So was popular, before Smile was released?

What's not clicking? The general public isn't familiar enough with Dr. Luke to even recognize his name, let alone blame him for any negative PR. Plus, 'Say So' stayed at number one for six weeks in 2019, so clearly he wasn't a major PR liability. I'm struggling to see how working with him would have been a bad move.
