It was very bad for her
TheVelvetRope Posted July 12 Posted July 12 (edited) Man, I was so excited for this and really wanted to like it, but this song is so one-note and really goes nowhere. I never expect lyrical masterpiece from Katy but these lyrics are just painful to hear. The way you can summarize the whole song in a table is … What is a woman? How is a woman? a winner sexy a champion confident Superhuman Intelligent number one heaven-sent a sister soft a mother strong a flower feminine a thorn divine Edited July 12 by TheVelvetRope 7

Everything was set up for her to have a great comeback and they've fumbled it spectacularly. I can't even tell what the video is trying to say? And who exactly they're aiming this towards? yeah, the circunstances make this such a sour experience all around. with smile, we all knew no one was gonna pay attention to it but this time, they actually had the chance to make things work for her - and they fumbled like never before. imagine releasing a female empowerment song produced by an allegedly rapist and having the song being mid and receiving NO investment from her label (the playlist reach for it is less than charli's von dutch). if you're gonna insist on a mistake, at least make sure the song is good and that the payola is on check i'm probably gonna check out the album when it comes out but i decided not to follow this rollout closely anymore. it's beyond frustrating to see her paying her career dust time after time. 3
Magno Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Is she using the same strategy as Ariana, giving a lead that is not really representing the álbum?
Vespertine Posted July 12 Posted July 12 The random gay couple making out in the video Oh she said I am an ALLY! 1 3
thismoment Posted July 12 Posted July 12 The goal is clear. They released the weakest song from "143" first to surprise everyone with the actual bops on September 20th. The shift is coming with the 2nd single. She's playing chess while y'all playing checkers. 2 1
ZIVERT Posted July 12 Posted July 12 My phone refreshed in front of my eyes, and the song went from Woman's World to WOMAN'S WORLD. I wonder if the whole album will have songs in all caps

Paultea Posted July 12 Posted July 12 6 minutes ago, Magno said: Is she using the same strategy as Ariana, giving a lead that is not really representing the álbum? In the apple music interview she said she wanted this to be the bridge between what the public remembers of her (anthemic songs) to what the rest of the album is. From the snippets this is definitely not representing the album as a whole at all.

makeme Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Its not my favroite song. A little mid compared to her actual 10/10 pop tracks. But I cant lie the chorus has been stuck in my head all morning. "Sexy confident" Might be a grower

hallucinate Posted July 12 Posted July 12 tbh maybe the lack of playlisting is for the best… it was going to flop anyways, the money better be saved for the second single

Dark Horse, Roar, Unconditionally, Walking on air ... all different styles. I think the album will be in this vein. Just not sure about the quality
