Plus "Sympathy is a Knife" is literally deferential to Taylor anyhow - Charli is literally acknowledging how Taylor is far more successful than her, and she could never reach that, but also she knows it's not meant for her and would absolutely mean the end of everything she holds artistically important to try and reach that level. Taylor fans should learn to read a ******* lyric and interpret something sensibly other than the rabid-dogs-barking-at-the-gate approach whenever they think an undue slight towards their messiah is uttered.

Especially coming off of the entire concept of the album crash…. It is so self important to as a Taylor fan take this personally lol

These comparisons are always the dumbest, because nearly every pop artist has their lighter, 'fluffier' songs, which So High School obviously is; don't act dense. I could also point out some of Charli's.

agreed. the problem is that Taylor doesn't see So Highschool as a ''fluffier, lighter song''. it would be no problem if she did that. but instead she's absolutely serious about a song which is objectively ridiculous songwriting-wise. Charli on the other hand never had any problem to admit that songs such as vroom vroom have pretty ''fun-dumb'' lyrics and her being that open about it and dividing em from her other music is why her more serious songwriting moments were never disgraced.

Factually untrue, Taylor literally talks at length about how 1/3 of her catalogue is silly, frivolous, immature, and not meant to be taken seriously. Charli and Taylor are exceptional songwriters capable of multifaceted, nuanced storytelling from multiple different perspectives.
