I don't think Taylor is going after anyone. She wants to remain number 1 on the charts, so will continue to do this until it is no longer effective. She just needs the portion of her fanbase who continue to purchase these to keep doing that, and that is usually enough to sway a margin back in her favor to retain the number 1 status.

Say what you will about the variants (I don't purchase them myself), but to claim she isn't that popular or that another big artist could do what she's doing tour-wise is factually incorrect. Firstly, Taylor hasn't played arenas in literally a decade. The Eras Tour—a stadium only tour—generated enough interest that she would've had to play 900 shows to meet the demand. There's literally not another artist alive right now that could do this. 
 

You can dislike her business practices (fair), but to try and claim she isn't popular is just false; that's literally why she/her team pull stunts like this—because they know they'll sell.

She isn't popular as you think she is. Hence the need to pull stunts like this. If she was genuinely popular there would be no need to release 20 different versions of the same album. There is clearly a limited amount of people (although still big) that listen and purchase her music. Beyoncé could also do this tour with ease. Taylor isn't the girl you think she is. Her numbers are just smoke and mirrors.

Ok so let me first say that I stan and have been a huge fan since "You Belong with Me" in middle school but I think this is getting to the point where it's leaking out of the stan bubble and starting to harm her image and how people in the industry view her.

 

And I don't mean this in a shady way, the dramatics in here are too much, no one is dying it's just an album being sold, Charli will be more than fine with her own millions and acclaim and no one cares about charts other than the industry and stans, but I don't see the benefit to Taylor at this point. Everyone knows she's the biggest star in the world already and the most successful person in music arguably ever, certainly of the 21st century so far. What are these new editions accomplishing? She has always been absurdly savvy when it comes to her business. Yes she did special editions and such in the past but never to this extent and she's got to be aware of the narrative people are creating.

 

Unless it's all intentional as a prelude to Reputation TV, which if so, iconic behaviour tbh

Not trying to defend Taylor because I'm also tired of all this, but... Did the physical restock even ship during the last tracking week? Because that seems impossible to do overnight. At most the signed CDs earlier in the week could be shipped this week but that's it. 

 

I just don't understand how the versions pulled last night could have had any impact on the charts the week of Charli's release, or I missed something.
