dumbsparce Posted June 11 Posted June 11 I'm considered progressive in Europe and conservative in the US if the general consensus on US social media is anything to go by.
Breathe On Moi Posted June 11 Posted June 11 the question in the op is asking for ppl's personal views, and people are in here beating up on people for having those views 1
LoveInStereo Posted June 11 Posted June 11 I've lived in my city for 12 years now & I've seen the gradual shift in the presence of the homeless evolving from an innocuous non-problem to an active threat. There's a widespread mental health crisis being ignored under the excuse of the liberal value of blanket tolerance. I've heard from countless ppl about instances where they're on a subway car & some troll lights up a crack pipe. It's not compassion to turn a blind eye! If someone's screaming with their pants down to their ankles & a naloxone kit hanging around their neck, that's not a lifestyle, that's boorish insanity. Why the **** does Patagonia have a sign in the window saying "we support our neighbours in tents"?! Some freaks put a tent on the front lawn of my apt the other day & I almost lost it. Thank god a neighbour checked them. It's as if we're reorganizing society to prioritize the comfort of the most mentally disorganized & unwell while hard working, lower income ppl get shafted. You'd have to be so bourgeois & out of touch (delivery groceries, Uber eats, work from home, drive everywhere) to not see how bad this is. I know lots of liberal ppl who dgaf about this crap. Ghoulish. Log off Instagram and look at what your streets have become! That's my Ted talk 1
Lana Banana Posted June 11 Posted June 11 17 hours ago, John Slayne said: this is such a weird way to phrase it because people will continue to have those relationships regardless of if you believe it or not but maybe you meant you just don't want that for yourself? OT: i guess wanting to be married. i'm very ambivalent about it, i understand the critiques of marriage as an institution and i agree with them, but a part of me still wants a husband. i guess it's just the remnants of growing up in a conservative society, it's difficult to unlearn a lot of things especially when there are social and material incentives to behave a certain way (getting married for example!) Yes, I don't want it for myself and I am not having it because I would be grossed out going to bed with my bf after having sex with someone else because I was horny for that person or the other way around. If it doesn't sexually match in a relationship, then the relationship is doomed from the beginning. See I don't mind threesomes if both agree to try/do it, but a relationship where both are allowed to **** around and that's okay? Yeah no
AMIT Posted June 11 Posted June 11 (edited) Paying taxes/being pro-government is NOT a left-wing thing. As for myself, I guess I would say the open relationship thing too. Maybe I could think about getting into one myself with another person (and that's a strong maybe), however those couples that want to basically date a 3rd person with no emotional attachment (these are thee worst) or each party of an open relationship hooking up separately kind of pisses me off sometimes. It's like some people want everything but the same ones would never even try something of that arrangement with you and just want you for sex and I think that's such a douchebag move and really turns me off. That's my Ted talk i would say creating a housing crisis and driving unemployment up, which are the primary causes of homelessness and drug addiction, are very much the consequences of conservative politics. the points liberals and leftists are making is that many homeless people and addicts are vulnerable and need help, but conservatives keep defunding programs that do that so the addicts and homeless die on the street, or get locked up at best. but guess what, if someone goes to prison that is still paid for from your taxes so taking the conservative side on homelessness will not leave you better off. Selegend Posted June 11 Posted June 11 i'm against 90% of the illegal drugs. not all of them but the majority of them. i'm against it's use tho, to the point that i get weird vibes when i'm at a party and someone ""close"" to me is doing a line for example, it gives me such a bad energy, i hate it. i hate to see it, i hate to be close to it. i'm not against it's legalization. so not that conservative tbh but i just don't **** with it at all. 1
naval23 Posted June 11 Posted June 11 I think DUI laws are a bit harsh and the threshold should be a bit higher Where I live, 0.05% BAC will go on your record 1 1
commander Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I have a soft spot for public/city spaces. I can't stand when it's used illegally/legally for economic purposes.
