26% of Gen Z applicants are bringing their parents to their job interviews

As it relates to minors who are Gen Z, I've communicated with parents during the hiring process, and afterwards, but I've never been in a situation where I've interviewed someone with their parent present. It's up to the parents to be the ones to, at least, prepare their child for a job interview—if they don't receive direction from an educational institution, which is most likely not happening.

If a parent forced their way into the interview, or if the interviewee requested their parent sit in, that would be them killing their chances right then and there.

I have seen it twice tbh. One of them was the grandma, tho. And not the mother.

This smells like propaganda.

i don't believe it, unless it's maybe teenagers looking for apprenticeships? and even then, I can see the parents driving them or maybe talking to the receptionist at most, but not actually going to the interview with their kid. no way 26% of them do this. most of Gen Z are in their 20s, i've never heard of anyone taking their parents to a job interview

Is bringing someone on interviews even allowed?

They could be driven or go with somebody but not doing a full job interview having a parent who speaks instead of them. You'll never learn about doing an interview and you will be alone (without parents) doing that job.

here for it. too much shady sht happens during the interview/negotiations!

think about it. interviews are very predatory situations. the interviewer has the power, even moreso if it's a group of interviewers. you're in a very vulnerable state and can be easily taken advantage of. bringing someone who cares about you would bring a witness and definitely not let these people think they can lowball you in front of their face or maybe use you to steal your ideas.

let's normalize bringing mommy and/or daddy to the interview process.
