rickycabello123 Posted June 8 Posted June 8 he luv to drop them hot teas!!! you are amazing writer too, the A team among the best debut songs ever
Frappucino Posted June 8 Posted June 8 I'm glad to agree with him and anxiously waiting for the day he writes a song as half as good as this one 3
shyboi Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Toxic is basically the best pop song ever and one of the best of all time overall BOMT not so far behind, Britney's discography is easily the most influential this century, she shifted the music landscape 2
dirrtydiana Posted June 9 Posted June 9 It's top 2 and it ain't #2 so yes he lied also Britney has much better songs tbh (imo oops, s4u, crazy, gimme more>>>) 1
Soda Pop Queen Posted June 9 Posted June 9 (edited) I mean, sure.... in Max Martin's catalog and I'm saying that with all seriousness. Martin's songwriting (particularly his melodies and arrangements) peaked in the 90s. Edited June 9 by Soda Pop Queen
mike_int Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Personally I wouldn't put it in best 2-3 song ever written but it became a blueprint for pop songs for many years, that is indisputable fac Maybe based on success or the fact it takes you in right after first second with the piano sample, yes its a great manufactured song.

RihannaRTT Posted June 9 Posted June 9 In terms of song quality? Absolutely not. The best songs probably haven't even been heard. I think it was Lauren Christy of The Matrix fame who said she has drawers full of songs containing the most wonderful poetic material that no one gave a **** about. Even in terms of mainstream songs, you have so many songs that are way more respected and seen as the actual greatest songs; those like Purple Rain, My Heart Will Go On, Thriller, Bohemian Rhapsody, I Will Always Love You etc. However, in terms of crafting the perfect single to launch a massive pop career? Yeah. Ed is notorious for seeing things through a chart-based lens and in this sense he's probably very correct. This truly was THEE debut single in terms of building this teen pop girl image that has been replicated and referenced so many times. Possibly number-one on that front.
Rev8 Posted June 9 Posted June 9 I get where he is coming from it's odd because all of the guitar-singing acts like him, Taylor Swift, Lewis Capaldi, Harry Styles - have all shown huge love to Britney's early catalogue (when some others usually concentrate on S4U, Toxic, Gimmie More etc.) And her earlier stuff really was what 1989/TD is now for us (with input by the same person) so Classic Pop Candy no doubt
DiabeticGrandpa Posted June 9 Posted June 9 It's a basic pop song. It's great not gonna lie but it's not a top 3 well written song
