Also, it contradicts what was said in a previous US Weekly article: "Their relationship was fast, but extremely passionate and real". So what's the truth?

1. The whole album is not about him. She also wrote about Joe, about Travis, about her relationship to fame... hell, even about Aaron Dessner's son.

I have to agree with him. I always thought loml was about Joe until I realized it wasn't and that most songs are actually about Matty. I forgot they even were together when I listened to the album for the first time. Matty wasn't a good muse for Taylor either. The album would be better with a better muse than a relationship nobody seems to care about. Not even Matty seems to care about it. Wish Taylor had the same energy. Taylor referring to Matty as 'the loss of her life' when she just got out of a 6 year relationship just says how much she exaggerated to make some sob story songs.

You kinda unintentionally proved the source to be wrong by including the comment that says they've known each other since 2015 (2014 potentially)

 

Even if they were mostly dating other people during the 10 years they've known each other that's still plenty of time to reflect on. I also think it's unlikely they reconnected only for a hookup
