I'm enjoying this so far. I'm about ten hours in. The character character is absolutely nuts.

However I REALLY hope the juvenile dialogue is toned down for the next Mass Effect game… it's not Andromeda levels of annoying but it feels amateurish in parts.

I wanted Davrin initially (even before the game started based on the trailers), then I was kinda pulled by Lucanis because I was about 16-17h and Davrin hadn't shown up, but then after that MESSY

quest when you come back with Davrin and have to choose between Treviso and Minrathous I went to save Minrathous becauses I was afraid Dorian might die. And I'm not romancing a hardened companion on my first playthrough (I've heard is possible but way harder)

Btw, I managed to make my elf TALLER than Lucanis:clownny:

this doesn't feel like a dragon age game at all to me. i'm playing as mage and the combat is pretty boring to me. i really miss controlling several different classes. the dialogue is often cringe and slow, it's pretty annoying. and yet, after presevering for a couple of hours and the world opening up a bit i'm actually having fun. i'm enjoying it a lot more than i thought i would.

now i wish there already was a multi-romance mod because i need to peg lucanis but i also need to **** that old man

The men are whatever, I'm romancing Neve because she approves of everything I do and looks kinda hot with her face bruised.

I am having such a mixed reaction to this...

Playing as a mage and I do like some of the updates to combat compared to basic mage attacks in previous games. The combos and weapon switching feel good. Starting to get repetitive though.

I do not like the elimination of ROLES in this role playing game. Having enemies coming at me constantly instead of having a tank that can pull aggro and provoke them is kind of annoying, especially while trying to target specific enemies. It gets pretty messy with larger groups of enemies tbh

I also don't get how some of the mechanics work. Like, it tells me to burn down their shields using RT/R2, but it barely makes a dent and uses up all my mana so I can't use skills? Some enemies shields and health burn down quickly, but others of the same type it's like I'm doing no damage at all?

The worldbuilding is also just not there. In one of the first cities, there has been a major event that you don't get to ask anyone about or learn about via dialogue? There's some new faction that I have never heard of despite playing all of these games multiple times and there's just, one throwaway line about it then the game shrugs and moves on?

My biggest issue though is the tone. It feels very....Tumblry. Not the "woke" stuff but the like wisecracking vibe is really cringey. I was tired of this in Marvel stuff (especially Guardians of the Galaxy movies/game sorry!) and it's really overwhelming here. It has like, idk, a too-online Steven Universe vibe? Bellara is the biggest offender to me. The over the top qUiRkY is.....

Girl, that quest was EVIL. I wanted to

save Minrathous but Lucanis's accent got in the way. Ended up helping the Crows and I have never felt worst. My girl Neve is now a permanent member of my party, because I feel horrible after going back to a now ruined Minrathous to do some quests.

Lucanis is end-game but, I feel Miss Taash might be pulling me away preferably in her strong, muscled arms.

Finished the game today. Overall it was a big MEH, with a sprinkling of good and great here and there. It did not feel like a proper Dragon Age game, and the roleplaying felt really shallow, even more shallow than Inquisition. Most companions were dull but inoffensive, and some of them a complete waste of space. A HUGE step down from Inquisition. Gameplay was... okay. Visuals were fine albeit most characters were kinda ugly. The tone was terrible, the game puts a lot of blight, blood, human sacrifices, corpses, dead people, darkspawn, demons and possessed things all over, but the tone of the dialogue or voice acting rarely ever follows the severity of the situation. A lot of the villains were also just plain mustache twirling cartoon villains, with no depth to them. I guess they were fine with Solas carrying the torch for great villain-y. Overall, if BioWare succeeded in anything, I'd say the Solas stuff continued being superb. And I love the ending I got for him.

Romanced Emmrich and I was right to do so (massive mega ultra huge big spoilers below, don't open spoiler if you haven't finished Emmrich's companion quest!). Watched the other male romances in the game and they were good and fine but Emmrich has that FANTASY that I like and offers a little more than just a pretty basic Dragon Age romance.

I'd give the game a 5/10 overall. Probably a higher number if my PC wasn't terrible at running the game. I am happy I got to play it, but if I want to replay some Dragon Age magic, I'll just go back to Dragon Age Inquisition. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but that's my favorite out of the four.

I'm playing as a warrior with Slayer subclass and I'm having a lot of fun.

It's funny how the straight coded men (Davrin & Lucanis) are bringing the most drama:WAP: I almost always take them with me because they can barely stand each-other:ahh:

Taash is the funniest companion so far, with Neve being a closed second. I like how one is more direct while the other is more subtle.

Also, The Siege on Weisshaupt is THAT girl, the best mission so far. The disgustingness of the blight and of

Spoiler

the "arch-demon" & Ghilan'nain takes the cake.

==============================

Idk.. so far to me this is way above Inquisition... and has the best combat (from what I've experienced out of the 4)

Besides the obviously improved visuals, the level & quest design is (TO ME) vastly superior and easier to understand than previous games. The maps are way more COMPACT but don't feel small at all - on that end they reached a perfect balance.

==============================

I don't know how it's for other factions, but I get some pretty cool dialogue content personalized based on me being a Grey Warden & elf and I'm loving it.

Overall I'm loving it. I think the first 6 hours of the game are bad, with weird tone, overly linear structure and a poor introduction to Rook as a character. And a weird introduction of the games villains... It just does everything wrong :suburban:

This is colouring a lot of people's view of the game. But once things open up and the story gets moving, the characters start having their own personal quests (which are all great) the game becomes amazing. If only Bioware had refined that start, though a bad start is in like half their games so it's probably just a bit of a studio issue

The Davrin romance is sooo satisfying. :clap3::jonnykin:

I'm enjoying myself so far but the story and lore are kinda disappointing. A lot of the revelations ended up being disappointing idk. I guess after a decade of Inquisition I expected better answers to my questions.

I like the companions I guess. Davrin & Lucanis :smitten:, Bellara is sweet. Emrich is interesting. Never is cool. Harding meh. Taash is alright.

The Taash storyline is probably what got a Trump elected.

Some of the factions/background are so irrelevant. I chose Lords of Fortune :rip: . The Legion of Doom or whatever they were called (Dwarves that fight dark spawn) should have been a faction and a background for Dwarven Rooks.

I do like that they acknowledge Rook's faction throughout the game. Even when in dialogue Davrin has referenced it! "Not bad Rook. For a Lord of Fortune."

Our choices in the other games don't even matter which I feared would happen. Maybe don't take so long next time, BioWare????

One of my BIGGEST pet peeves about the Dragon Age games is that they always ignore that MC is a mage. He always acts dumb to any magical information. Always needs to consult some other mage.

The world itself is not as explorable or fun as Origins.

Morrigan girl why are you back? Dorian's cameo was a jump scare. He looks a mess!

Overall, I am enjoying myself but they could've done better. Maybe it'll get better!!

GODrigan has an interesting mission in act 2.
Idk I find the world pretty explorable - I like that the map opens up as you move along and complete the quests.

bringing back loved characters only to make clownery out of them

who's that sweet woman that's all smiles because i know that's NOT morrigan lmao also her hair is goofy

i'm not even going to talk about dorian because that's a literal crime. whoever did this needs to be fired ASAP :rip:

Does anyone even mention what happened to Flemeth? I'm still pressed about that even though it made for an impactful ending.

Oh, brother. Hero of Ferelden N/A. Even though they were on a "secret mission" that we STILL don't know about. Where's Alistair?

Morrigan briefly does. One of Solas memories talks about it too. But again, the answers I was looking for ended up all being lackluster and disappointing.

Sooo... about Lucanis...

Is he completely non-romanceable if you choose to save Minrathous over Treviso? That's fawked up.

Not everyone now acting like Inquisition is a masterpiece after spending a decade dragging it :toofunny3: So predictable.

Posted

I just finished it! I LOVE the final battles when you see everyone joining together :jonny5: !! The cutscenes where you see the leaders from each faction actually doing something was great! I liked how we could give our companions tasks to do in the finale that may affect them, very Mass Effect. The romances this game are pretty bad tho? I feel like there wasn't much development. Also not enough chaos, decision making, or consequences overall imo! DA:O and DA:I were better at this. This game lacks replayability for me.. idk!

Bioware shouldn't wait 10+ years to give us a follow-up. I think such a long time away really got things lost.

The post credit scene was giving MARVEL realness :ahh: "The Veilguard will return" teaseee:ahh:

The Inquisitor's battle armor wtf :lmao:

They kinda screwed us who want Lucanis over. It's pretty much required to save Minrathous over Treviso since the game is so Minrathous/Neve focused.

Does Harding always die if you pick her to be the "2nd leader" ? I couldn't risk Davrin. Sorry girl!

Companions were good. They all felt like had a stake in this war.

Varric turning out to be dead made a lot of sense. Kinda felt bad.

I think they were kinda lazy with carrying over too few choices from Inquisition, but it is acknowledged what happened to Flemeth, and it's commented by Harding in one of the scenes too.

==============================================

I disagrih regarding Morrigan being too nice, it's been 10 years, she's now

Spoiler

inhabiting the spirit of a god, and made piece with regards to her and her mother's relationship.
