The princesse of pop, Britney Spears might receive the Global Icon Award at this year's VMAs. This would be Britney's first appearance at an event since last decade.

 

Katy Perry is also rumored to receive the Vanguard award during the show.

I don't think Britney is ready for something like this right now when she's still going through so much. But it would be nice to see if she pulls through. 
 

Katy is way overdue for a Vanguard at this point so it'd be great if it coincides with the album release.

Katy's Vanguard this year was so obvious since she's releasing an album during the Summer/early Fall. So deserved

Although I think it is highly unlikely, the only reason I wouldn't rule it out completely is because Britney went to two red carpets while all the conservatorship drama was first coming to light. As I was completely shocked to see her at both of these red carpets, but one was Sam's films. However, it is completely different going up on stage and speaking.

It's just not realistic. Britney does not care anymore. They would need to pay her very handsomely and even then I still have doubt she would agree to it.
