Mother's Daughter and Plastic Hearts deserve Grammys for being masterpieces. But I don't agree Miley only won because it was a hit cuz they are unpredictable, for Camila,, all her hits didnt win Havana Senorita BamBam, but a flop like Mi Persona Favorita won. Do not understand about the award. VMAs is better cuz Fan Voted

She just recently started making music worthy of a Grammy. Wrecking Ball was her best shot at one before Plastic Hearts and the 2014 Grammys were super competitive with Royals (deservedly) winning Best Pop Solo Performance. 
 

So, frankly, Grammys are questionable in general but it makes sense it took Miley as long as it did given her uneven discography.

Before flowers her only song embraced by olds enough to go top ten on AC was the climb, which was from a Disney channel soundtrack

Because she's a glorified covers artist. Her music is terrible, only Selena's and Demi's is worse I guess, and all her good will was founded on boomers being gagged by her singing covers on Facebook. It's why Flowers success doesn't translate to album sales, because there isn't much behind her besides "does a good cover of X song"

The Grammys are a corrupt popularity contest that only exist to award people that look and act a certain way. As mentioned, Madonna didn't get a Grammy until she was 41. Miley was first seen as a Disney kid, then was too controversial, then kinda disappeared. But she was absolutely worth of recognition as are many others.

And WAP wouldn't have been approved in 2013 period. The song wouldn't have been played on the Radio as much as Wrecking Ball or even recommended by YouTube 2013 algorithm due to its content unlike Wrecking Ball. So thank God the song came out 8 years later.

She should know why. 

 

1. Being a Disney artist makes it extra hard to take them seriously. There's a reason she's barely got nominated in 20 years, just like her peers. 

2. Her image from Bangerz up to Younger Now was almost comical. She tried too hard to be a good girl gone bad in the worst possible way. Her antics and gimmicks were embarrassing and made her look like a brat. 

 

I'm glad she's got the recognition she's had with Flowers because it's always felt like these Disney girls have been overlooked in favor of other bigger pop girls when their music is not as bad as some people make them seem.

I like her but as much as she worked hard, she hasn't done that much that really deserves to be recognized as much as what Flowers has done. But Bangerz deserved def as well as Malibu.

It's not particularly complex. There was about a 10 year stretch between Bangerz and Endless Summer Vacation where her music simply didn't garner that much attention, so of course she didn't win a Grammy during that time. Also some of her earlier hits, while great, weren't exactly Grammy material imho.

The comments about the quality of her music as if the grammys cared about quality most of the time. We've seen plenty of trash songs getting nominated over good songs only because those artists have better connections in the industry.

No shade Miley but, no one knew who were in 2004 for it to be 20 whole years lol. Her debut album came out in 2007 so it's been 17 years actually.
