She definitely deserved at least one grammy for Wrecking Ball, the song was a huge hit and a moment in pop culture whether you like it or not.

Other than that, she's had a long period of irrelevance after Bangerz so it doesn't surprise me because grammys are also heavy on popularity.

Out of topic but I can't believe it's been 20 years since Miley has been recording music

*Gestures broadly to her pre-Plastic Hearts discography*

Miley is as definitely robbed during the 'Bangerz' era. Wrecking Ball definitely deserved SOTY or ROTY. 'Plastic Hearts' was robbed tremendously. It's her best work and was overlooked.

Why do artists these days think they are entitled to everything? Why would they take her seriously with that catalog? Madonna was 41 years old when she received her first and her last Grammy on stage and you never heard her moan about it.

Award shows can also be subject to criticism? People here are justifying her not receiving a Grammy before due to her image and at times lack of commercial success. Are the Grammys evaluating the music or the artist's image/personality and the commercial success?

Grammys typically award artists for commercial success, especially in the pop categories.

Bangerz was rightfully nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album. Wrecking Ball was snubbed and should of gotten a nomination for Best Solo Pop Performance

Besides that, nothing she released between Bangerz and Flowers deserved to be nominated, based on typical pop Grammy standards

Pop music isn't respected especially pop music by female pop artists… there's of course some outliers but generally speaking it's seen as lowbrow.

It's kinda obvious that there is a lot of politics involved if it comes to those awards shows. Flowers was so big they didn't really have a choice but to give it to her. There are several other songs in her discography that deserved a recognition over Flowers.

She was a pop artist who was seen a fad for little kids before flopping less than three years later (CBT) and quitting music. Didn't have the "real musician" credibility that Taylor or the Jonas Brothers did at the time. Revitalised her but making career but had a terrible reputation (Bangerz) but even then still managed to squeak out a Pop Vocal Album nomination.

Then started flopping in the US again (which as Pop act, you know how hard it get Pop Grammys without commercial success AND critically success). Even the biggest Smiler's will tell you that it's only Plastic Hearts (as a whole project/album) was that robbed.

It makes complete sense why an act like Miley was never in serious Grammy consideration until Flowers.

Even Miley herself won't vote for Dead Pants for real, I love that she finally won a Grammy but she should stop this entitlement :gaycat6:

The ironic thing is Wrecking Ball probably could've been nominated if it was submitted for 2015 instead of 2014.

She submitted WB for the 2014 ceremony, no nominations but by the 2015 ceremony (where Bangerz was nominated) her image had cooled enough at the time where a Pop Solo or ROTY/SOTY nom could've happen.

Instead her team submitted the then 18 month We Can't Stop as her main submission for 2015, and we saw how that turned it out.

Grammys late as Always

Everyone has felt this..especially since the 2010s

they are often afraid of awarding music-changing records and play it super safe

I am shocked that she wasn't nominated for anything during her Plastic Hearts era, when that's when they could've taken ques from the public that the record was pretty beloved and revered

The climb and Wrecking ball are the only hits that deserved a nom and were robbed. The other songs were smashes but those two are quality gems that stand the test of time.

She should have been nominated at least.

Mama is serving Mackenzie Phillips in her prime teas  for the cover and I'm not mad at it.

girl, even you hate your own past material and now you act like those deserved Grammy?

Maybe a pop vocal performance nomination for The Climb and Wrecking Ball and that`s it.

You get your flower, don`t bitter about the past.

Realistically speaking she has only been a real contender since 2017 I would say, but be serious no one is gonna give a Grammy for a song off an album called "Bangerz" especially with how she marketed it back then :deadbanana2:

I mean is she not allowed to be a bit salty?

Party in the USA

The climb

Wrecking ball

Nothing breaks like a heart

And plastic hearts all deserved recognition whether y'all like it or not.

Her public image should have nothing to do with whether someone gets a grammy or not.

Her image pre bangerz was NOT her fault. Its a case of being taken advantage of and exploited as a minor.

Despite the bangerz era she worked her ass off since she was 12.

I'd be pissed too

Her best works (Bangerz, Dead Petz, and She Is Coming) would never have won Grammy's bc of how she was being perceived at the time. Before that she wasn't taken seriously bc of the Hannah Montana effect. Plastic Hearts probably could have been considered, but it's genre-lessness made it not palatable for voters. Also let's not get started on Younger Now. This is the first era she really could / would have been considered, whether she likes it or not

She won bc her song was a massive hit not bc it was deserving, there are plenty of others who are deserving who have produced FAR better music :giraffe:

By that dumb logic she should've won with Wrecking Ball, Party in the USA.

If massive songs win katy wouldn't have had zero grammys.

At least make sense
