When Beyonce released Formation, she was threatened by the US Police with less protection. Formation came before This Is America. Thats all im going to say to this topic Not "When he f me good I take his ass to Red Lobster" is some revolutionary track. Solange is the only Knowles that makes Revolutionary Black Music, lbr.
PrettyHurts Posted June 2 Posted June 2 1. Beyoncé was mega rich before doing anything "activist" 2. This woman has been jealous and obsessed with Bey for a while. She's always throwing shade at Black artists meanwhile half of her persona is lifted from American blackness 3

Because she is the one actually risky and brave to speak her mind, and was cancelled because of that. Again, Beyonce (and other celebrities) says what's cool and safe to support. She's nowhere to be found talking about Palestine and other issues. 3 4

BGKC Posted June 2 Posted June 2 (edited) Beyoncé is not a billionaire because of some selective activism lol. I agree that some of her mainstream activism can be rather performative, but that's something incredibly common among politicians and A List celebrities alike. She's also one of the most politically polarizing celebrities out there, so it's not like she's totally benefiting from it. She could have remained neutral and palatable to the GP if she really wanted to maximize her profitability. Most of her "activism" is also close to home, literally speaking. She's always giving back to Houston and has been for a long time, including the funds for a housing complex for the homeless. She's providing tons in annual scholarships and salon business grants for students as well as provided tons for young entrepreneurs as well. The list goes on, but yall will just call it tax write offs regardless of her true intent, which is what it is. It's much more than what MIA has ever done though, I'm sure of that much. That woman is just so far gone and bitter. Edited June 3 by BGKC 5

I don't know where this revisionism that supporting BLM was a "cool" thing to do in 2016 comes from. She had the cops threatning to boycott her tour, Tomi Lahren & co. dragging her on TV every day, and people accusing her of being "anti-white" (whatever that is). Even amongst (white) liberals, BLM was a highly contentious issue in 2016. I started lurking ATRL in 2017 and I remember it was still debating Formation and whether or not Beyoncé was a "racist" for... protesting police brutality. OT: Wasn't she the one telling Covid patients on ventilators to "just breathe"? A complete moron is what she is. Edited June 2 by Virgos Groove 4
Trainwreck Posted June 2 Posted June 2 And she is RIGHT, it's all performative activism from the YAYA interpreter

Now she's on pro-Trump podcasts Even if she said something stupid, that's not a reason to "cancel" such a brilliant artist. And I definitely don't agree with her choosing pro-Trump podcasts, but they are possibly the only ones inviting her since the left media won't invite a cancelled celebrity.
KevinKDC Posted June 2 Posted June 2 (edited) I mean… I vividly remember Beyonce not acknowledging gay rights in her art before Reni. Edited June 2 by KevinKDC
worldwide angel Posted June 2 Posted June 2 her anti-black ass should be the last person talking given that she forfeited all of her activism for far right brownie points a bigger fraud than beyoncé will ever be 1
Patient Zero Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Everyone became a billionaire on the back of something. You won't become a billionaire by being nice towards people.

The fact that she apparently has all these intense feelings and statements but yet she hasn't made a REAL statement outside of songs that are not written by her to begin with is embarrassing. That woman would lose against M.I.A. In a debate so damn fast The bolded says it's all. The weaponisation of activism separates the doers from the posturers. There are so many moronic takes in here, can chalk most to pop stans reaching for superficial excuses to hate on artists but the notion that activism has to be a one-size-fits-all approach, a theoretical discourse, a competition, has to be the daftest of all. 2

Not only that, but Beyoncé has ALWAYSSS been for Woman's rights ever since Destiny's Child. Gosh these old a** nostalgic takes on her rise to billionaire status and her mega-successful superstar status are so d*mn embarrassing. Her being an "activist" has quite frankly severely alienated a HUUGGEEE crowd for her. Hence the reason why a lot of Men and (oddly enough) Woman have NOT liked her for yearssss. Even a lot of Black woman have shown great disdain for Bey. This is so off and wrong lmaooo! The way my comment got so many dislikes when I'm basically saying MIA was wrong, just like everyone else is. But of course the dislikes are from NON-Beyoncé fans so go figure. Y'all need to chill TF out HAHAHAHA!!! Edited June 3 by cuteboyzay
