I wish ATRL/stans would stop trying to put Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez on the same "flop" boat. Christina isn't hungry for celebrity or fame in the same way JLo is. JLo is very fame hungry and will shove herself in your face to stay on top, which makes it worse. And even when Christina flops, she's still viewed as an undeniable talent that can outsing 99% of other artists with ease. All Christina has to do is record a song that resonates with the public and it's a hit (like "Say Something") whereas with JLo, it's more of an uphill battle since her very talent is now put into question, and that's harder to come back from. Ironically, the same thing was happening to Mariah a few years ago after her multiple live performance flubs. 2 1

Ended up overshadowed by Shakira Her documentary saying "having two latinas performing on the Superbowl is the worst idea" made it even worse. I get it that's not her intention but TikTokers didn't care. But it's not like that's the first time SuperBowl doing it. Eminem and Coldplay also needed to share the stage and they are way bigger than Jlo. 1

DemDam92 Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I think she should stay with Movies and advertisements. She has never been a good singer, she has zero clue about making music. Very lucky with the first 2 albums (+ a lot of payola) and the Lambada cover but that's it. It's all good just accept and move on. 1

If you check TikTok dance videos go viral way more than singing videos. So dance is still a big part of music but people underestimate it. 1

Inverted Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Some of you desperately need to see a therapist. It's really disturbing how you're mocking and celebrating when someone is at their low point whether they're rich or not. Anyway, this is probably her worst year career-wise since the intense Bennifer 1.0 backlash in 2003. That really destroyed her career and she basically disappeared for years. It's very strange that she tried to repeat the same thing. It's okay to love him, but being a celebrity is about your public image. The public did not like them together before and ripped her apart back then so why repeat that? Why make an album and try to promote it with a movie? I get that she loves love, but you have to think about what the public wants too. Also, why doesn't she focus on giving all to one project? Like a movie. I have never seen her change her look since American Idol started. People also criticize her for saying she's from the Bronx (when she doesn't even say it much), but it's come to the point that they're even actively making things up like claiming Castle Hill is not a bad area (uh... yes it is lol), she made up that "orange drink" (it's a quarter water; anyone from NY who isn't a transplant or born after 2005 knows what that is) or saying she doesn't do any charity work. She never addresses any of this. Does she think it'll disappear? We're in the age of the Internet. People never forget. She should fire Benny and Elaine or at least hire new people. She and they NEVER address mis/disinformation at all. On the latter, I've seen many people say she was mean and that was before the online hate train. Part of the fact when I initially became a fan was because of the underdog aspect to her story and how it seemed like you could root for her. So the fact she likely wasn't a nice person behind the scenes ruined that in short. So yeah, despite the fact she doesn't seem like the nicest person On 5/31/2024 at 10:49 PM, Bimbo said: The MET Gala reporter just let out the biggest cackle HUMBLE that *****! On 5/31/2024 at 4:15 PM, PrettyHurts said: the beginnings of her music career are very shady. mariah's ex husband, music exec tommy motolla, used jlo to get back at mariah by boosting her career. many of her songs featured lead vocals from other singers, while she isn't a vocalist. These posts are proof that perception rules over reality. a) There is no actual proof of her poor behavior to service workers or anybody. We're in 2024 and no one has managed to get a video of her misbehaving? But we easily get other on celebs on video being nasty? There's a viral TikTok about how she chased an employee across a casino take a tip back. And that wasn't caught on video? I find that hard to believe. @Afterglow shared a story of someone he knows and the story involved her team being demanding and asking for food to be returned to the point the hostess or server had an anxiety attack. That's hardly evidence of her personally mistreating service worker. And the MET Gala incident mentioned by @Bimbo? Walking up the stairs a red carpet and answering a reporter asking where your dress came from with a depressed, dead response is evidence of mistreating people? All these stories are about somebody who knows somebody who heard about it. What happened to actual proof, not TikTok bandwagons? And actual videos of her berating people? b) The "stealing" narrative is getting old. We already know she can't sing and her early songs have her "backup" singers doing the heavy lifting on the hooks of songs while she whispers and mumbles, but she is a vocalist on the songs and nothing was "stolen." Christina Milian, Ashanti, Y'anna Crawley, etc. have attested to that. And it's not just black women who have been hired to be backup for her so let's stop with that narrative also. c) And the "used by Tommy to get back at Mariah" narrative needs to be stop also. She was recruited by Tommy to be a female answer to Ricky Martin, not as revenge against Mariah. That's her first album has a pseudo-Latin pop feel. Tommy also recycled a sample Mariah wanted and the idea of a Ja Rule duet for J.Lo's team, but Jessica Simpson, Angela Via and Faith Hill were also recipients of ideas initially for Mariah. Where's the vitriol towards them? 1 5 4

insomniac Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) I just realized people were dragging J.Lo under Shakira's touringdata posts for being a flop (she has people so bothered for no reason), yet when looking at the numbers Jennifer had sold more tickets (262,294 tickets) to her tour before cancelling than Shakira has currently (207,400 tickets) or even the capacity of her whole US tour (222,492 tickets) J.Lo had more capacity per show too (in the same venues). So the haters here saying Jen must've hidden seats, must then accept that Shakira is hiding even more seats per venue. It's a shame J.Lo didn't press on with this tour because she's having marriage issues. Probably doesn't help her either that the whole new album was about said marriage. She had 1 month left of sales to go and sell out the remainder 27.51% (94,606 tickets) before the tour would start. This while she sold out her It's My Party tour, which 1 week before still had 72,260 tickets to sell. She sold those all out too and that tour ended up being a huge success!! But whatever fits your "J.Lo is a flop narrative," I guess. I prefer to go by factual numbers on this tours sales by touringdata and her track record like It's My Party, which can help us conclude that this tour would've been a huge success if gone through (even if not sold out instantly). I can count, thank you, but that wasn't the only data point I shared. The point was that past data showed her sales went similarly for It's My Party tour and she sold that tour out. The tour was a huge success. And I used the Shakira reference as an example because I found it funny her stans were making fun off her ticket sales and Jen hiding supposed seats in arenas, while her capacity for the same venues was larger. They only use certain data to fit their narrative of her being a flop. If it's not that, then it's scalper tickets. If Jen was a flop and only had "2 stans" then she wouldn't have moved over 262k tickets. 2 1
