I don't think it's about sales or commercial success just yet.
 

What they are doing right now are just proof of concepts. Apple can only produce 100k AVP's a year, because Sony can only produce 100k of displays for AVP a year. For Apple AVP sales are a drop in the ocean.
 

And while the overall demand for VR headsets is not there yet - they are just building the industry, by investing resources in future VR/XR/AR specialists, before the market blows up in the coming years.

The Alicia Keys Rehearsal Room is probably one of the best immersive experiences ever, and I'm looking forward to more episodes like that

 

The What If ...? story experience is pretty dope.  As already mentioned, it's like watching the series fully immersed with some interactive elements thrown in.
