Ummmm this is gonna be awkward… Two Exorcist franchises?

Mike is great so I'm looking forward to this.

Thank God that horror franchise killer DGG is out of the picture!

The concept of exorcism just isn't scary. There's nothing more that they could do except bring back Linda Blair and continue her story. More people possessed is just lame.

Moreso David Gordon Green and his trilogy idea has been axed after such a panned and commercial failure. Sorry to that man.

blumhouse bought the exorcist rights for $400M so it was inevitable they'd try something else quickly after the first attempt bombed. they need a new franchise to recoup the cost.

Good. Now keep DGG away from all horror franchises.

I don't know how one can get more radical than the original, but fine.

Make the priest get possessed and make Reagan try to take the demon out of him. :clap3:

Everything after the 1st one was horrible aside from Exorcist: The Beginning. It truly cant get any worse....or maybe it can. :cm:

The director has never mattered. Every time they try to take on this franchise it always FLOPS. Nothing ever comes close to the original. Im hoping im wrong but judging from his filmography there will be a few cute jumpscares but nothing memorable. :michael:

It doesn't have to be.

But Mike Flanagan doesn't have one bad movie or tv show in his filmography, he even made a good prequel to the awful "Ouija". He has a very own unique style when it comes to horror and focuses very much on his characters and the emotional element behind the horror, so i think he will do a decent job.

I think in general the whole concept of exorcism stopped being "scary" long time ago due to being so overused, last decade alone we had 298749287428478024 movies related to possessions and exorcisms, it's so played out. The OG may not feel that scary now but it was on its time, it has the creepy atmosphere and even the eerie music gives you goosebumps which is something new movies lack.

yeah it's a dated concept since no one's scared of the devil anymore

they should go for something more controversial/blasphemous to rile up the conservative crowd
