Only SZA showing up among contemporary new names… BLEAK AF this also pulls another layer in how this forum loves to undermine Beyonce's achievements… once we no longer have her around what do we have left for black female pop stars? It is sad but someone else will come along, hopefully more than one, because its needed. I feel like we need more black males in the pop space also. 1 1

I had thought the likes of Whitney and Mariah Carey would be ahead of the Barbadian but no. Mariah was never a strong touring force in comparison to her success in record sales. Also tours used to be much weaker in 90s. Madonna managed to maintain her touring force well into late 00s and early 10s where there was a rapid increase in the touring market. robbyds Posted May 26 Posted May 26 The list was for this century for Janet's mammoth global tours RN, janet and TVR were not included. Her latest TA tour is expected to cross $100M ($53M has been reported for less than half the dates). She can really do more if she extends the tour and cover more markets in Europe, Asia, Aus/NZ, South Africa and Latin America (where she never toured like EVER).

KKKIMO92 Posted May 27 Posted May 27 It's a shame that Janet got her career killed. Damita Jo coming off from Super Bowl and a great album, she will easily gross more than 100M in early 2000s and she would not lose her worldwide. She's been coming back strong after the doc, and she did not release any thing relevant after 2002, that's a testament of how huge her legacy is! 1

She should have easily continued her all for you tour! She should have touched Australia, Asia, Europe and Africa. All she had to do was release come on get up properly overseas. all for you could have grossed 150 million easily I feel. Edited May 28 by Twixters 1

That era, though not as big TVR, was still huge. All For You and Someone To Call My Lover were legit global hits 1

She debuted the first week alone with over 650k. Someone to call my lover could have went number one if they released it properly and son of a gun has NO BUSINESS being the third single. 1

This part for sure. It wasn't radio friendly at all. Come On Get Up was the right choice for the third single and would have continued her top 10 streak. Ultimately, what cut short the AFY era was Mariah's Glitter since Virgin had to buy her out of the contract. Also, if she had continued with the tour, the album would have continued selling. 1
