Kern Posted May 24 Posted May 24 I'm so perched! I'm actually one of those who really enjoyed Chromatica so for me the bar is not that high

But what bothers me about Chromatica is that it's a dance album and it's her field, she failed on this one and that hurts a bit like she has all the money to get the best producers the most unique artists and still does that. I just believe she lost the fire on her eyes post-artpop I understand. Gaga is in this sticky situation wherein people has great expectations for her all the time. Fans and even her haters, impose this high expectations on her. So if she doesn't delivery, people would **** on her and never reconsider lol... As a fan, I do feel like she was felt a bit forced to do Chromatica, it feels like there was a part in her that she's obligated to make that album instead of being naturally inspired to make it (idk if I'm making sense, but that's how I would describe her situation) But with LG7, I feel more positive, that she has taken enough time to feel artistically inspired, and that she rekindled her passion to make mind-blowing artistic records again, instead of meeting some deadlines or something 1

We all love Stefani and it's ok for stans to consume her differently or have contrasting wants and needs from her musically. I watched almost every Chromatica interview and, while she didn't tout it as musically groundbreaking, she constantly harped on about the artistic "depths" she dived into and the harrowing process she claimed it was piecing it together. All of which very well may be true, but the end product (which, again, I actually love) just didn't present as that. It gave very fun, upbeat, dark-light Dance-Pop. As a day 1 fan, I'm well versed in her schtick, so know that her hyping can result in amazingness (like TFM, ARTPOP, and to a degree BTW) as well as generally solid projects (like Chromatica). Equally, it can end up being a Joanne or just not live up to the quality of what she pre-presented it to be. So I (and others) are in their full right to greet her words with a little caution. I'm intrigued, but will reserve the fullness of my excitement until my first listen of the lead single. And that's...ok. To a degree BTW? I stopped reading then and there! not doing too much at all, it's the reality! If she doesn't release the type of music you expect her to a la TFM you're jumping straight to conclusions that her efforts are meaningless and not on par with her previous work. The constant need to compare her current music to her previous one is what is very concerning! She should be allowed to explore and try new genres even pop! I don't agree with the fact that there is a better or worse album! Every album had its own moment and purpose like it or not! She is one of the only popstars that isn't afraid of stepping out of her comfort zone and doing her own thing! She's one of the most versatile and I'm glad we still get that! Because we don't know what the next era will have to offer. Yes it'd be great to see her at the top again and revolutionise music the same she did early 2010s, but she's been there and done that. Let's just enjoy what Gaga the artist has to offer!

Let's just enjoy what Gaga the artist has to offer! We're presumably all grown here, right? If so, I don't get why there has to be any kind of uniformity with which Gaga albums we use most or just flat out don't like. BTW isn't a fave of mine, while Artpop, TFM, and Chromatica are. So what? Once again, your post/s read too emotional and divisive. You're preaching to the coverted (a stan). It's not by force that we have to like the same versions of an artist that is actively celebrated for being a chameleon. Contrary to your take, Gaga doesn't need to "clean" her fandom of "people like" me either. If anything, she needs ALL corners of the fandom to rally around her next project. Because she's for sure a big deal, but like a lot of acts her age and tier, thriving (with new music) in a streaming climate is still an uphill battle.
UnusualBoy Posted May 24 Posted May 24 I'm intrigued by her saying that this album will be nothing like she's done before because she's tried: dance pop, pop, EDM, folk, soft-rock, jazz so I wonder what genre or sound she's aiming for? r&b? hip-hop? metal? Excited for this.
