naval23 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) After a three-year-long legal battle with Carl Westcott, a veteran who founded 1-800-FLOWERS, the pop star went from a judicial dark horse to the rightful owner of her idyllic Montecito home. If you need a refresher on Perry's drawn-out courtroom drama, it all started when the "California Gurls" singer and partner Orlando Bloom reportedly purchased Westcott's Montecito home back in 2020. However, in a move nobody saw coming, Westcott sued to rescind the offer citing his mental incapacity. The "Last Friday Night" singer is slated to testify during a second phase of the trial in July. Perry is reportedly requesting damages for lost fair-market rental value, deferred maintenance, and a few necessary repairs caused by a fallen tree and water damage. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/katy-perry-wins-15m-montecito-223700309.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=tw&tsrc=twtr Edited May 24 by naval23

They are responsible for the housing market being so inaccessible just to inflate their own net worth. I have no sympathy for these people. Edited May 24 by Archetype 6

SleepNoMore Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Your subject heading is so wrong. Katy literally negotiated a fair and binding contract to buy the house and paid a large down payment. The original owner just got cold feet and tried to change his mind AFTER he already agreed to sell it. He's just as rich and entitled as any pop star and had a team of lawyers overseeing the sale, it's not like he did it himself. He just changed his mind, tried to argue he wasn't mentally fit when there was a ton of evidence proving otherwise, and the courts threw out his claim. You just can't change your mind after you've agreed to sell your house and signed a contract. 6
Valentine Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Title is flamebait sweetie. the correct terminology is "legally purchased" 1
Raspy Posted May 24 Posted May 24 when her curse get to him in few years and he actually lose his mind that time
karron0624 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Both the nun case and this case involved katy putting an offer on property, the other parties accepting the offer, and then after the closing process started, the sellers got a different offer (the nuns was 1 million over what katy offered, the veteran was 3 million over what katy offered). After seeing the increase in offer, they tried to cancel the sell in order to go to the higher offer. Idc if your a nun or a veteran, both of those parties were just greedy POSs who wanted more money. 5
