Nefertiti0 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Camila Cabello will be honored at the 2024 Billboard Latin Women in Music on June 9. This celebration, which highlights the efforts of Latin women musicians who are "proactively working for positive change, inclusion and gender parity in the music industry," will see the megastar of Cuban and Mexican roots receive the Global Impact award. "Singer-songwriter Camila Cabello's success and contributions have earned her the honor of Global Impact, which recognizes female artists who have an exceptional ability to connect with audiences worldwide, not only through their music but also by positively influencing popular culture, as well as serving as ambassadors of Latin culture on a global scale," reads the press release, noting that the singer of "Havana" and "Señorita" has used her voice not only to create great hits worldwide, but to promote important issues that she is passionate about such as immigration, diversity, mental health and female empowerment. Camila joins a list of previously announced honorees for this year that include Gloria Estefan (Legend award), Kali Uchis (Rising Star), Ana Bárbara (Lifetime Achievement award), Ángela Aguilar (Musical Dynasty) and Kany García (Spirit of Change). billboard.com/ 2 1

magazine Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Hello, I'm from planet Earth and this is not impacting us. I pass this on to my Mars brothers. 3
TitanicSurvivor Posted May 23 Posted May 23 At this point they must be joking So Legend X received her first honorable award after 25 years of her career and playing the major role of shaping Latin-pop scene in early 2000s and Cami who's in business for like 3 years gets the cake now? What's her impact exactly? She named a song after cuban city? Billboard needs a serious reality check at this point. Oh and don't even let me start talking about Selena who played in the biggest sitcom about Latin-american family of 2000s and literally introduced Disney fans to a spanish music

Blackout2006 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Ngl, I'm pretty happy for her lol. Between 2017-2019, her peak was huge. She was unstoppable with juggernaut smashes like Havana and Senorita. She was the poster girl of that time in the late 2010s when many celebrated groups disbanded in music, and one singer from the group would emerge as a solo successful pop star.
popmusicisdead Posted May 23 Posted May 23 but ATRL told me she's not Global nor does she have any impact

Her only two flukes aren't even in Spanish at least xtina had Spanish classics and a classic album for that market 2 1
