campelo Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Birds of a Feather sounds straight from early 2000's, so Natalie Imbruglia that I am so gagged 1

SlimyGhoul Posted May 16 Posted May 16 (edited) I can't help but be a bit disappointed by this. I thought Billie was gonna go in a different direction with this record and I was PUMPED to hear what it sounded like, but it's...not *that* different from her previous work. I don't love when songs switch in the middle, but these aren't even switching in the middle, they're switching like when the song is almost over so it feels like we're being shorted an experience and it's just an afterthought. I want her to commit to this sound. I was so excited for L'amour but I ended up being really disappointed and will end up putting an edit of it in my library. This is just after my initial listen so my opinion could definitely change, but that's how I'm feeling right now! Also keep in mind I have never liked a Billie album so it's probably just her music isn't my taste. Edited May 16 by SlimyGhoul
Cottonmouth Posted May 16 Posted May 16 This isn't exactly what I was expecting. I thought it would be more synth heavy. I guess listening to the Coachella snippets repeatedly didn't help, but I definitely see this growing on me a lot. Probably my favourite effort from Billie regardless. It's probably the most palatable version of her sound for people who couldn't get into her first 2 albums - like myself. Blue is such a great closer.
NumbSoul Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Oh this album is INCREDIBLE! Easily her best - truly masterful from beginning to end! I've always liked Billie, but her style was not exactly for me. I'd listen to her stuff a bit, but it would never be something I'd overplay. This album I can tell I'll be obsessed with I don't even know which song was my favorite, cause I enjoyed every single one. The lyrics, the productions (bravo FINNEAS), ... everything was great. If there was anything even remotely negative to say, I maybe wish WILDFLOWER and GREATEST were separated on the tracklist, cause that section started to ever so slightly drag for me, but I still loved both songs. I can see why LUNCH is the lead. I think BIRDS OF A FEATHER also would've been a good choice (maybe an even better one), but both songs have a lot of radio potential. Very proud of her, amazing album. Objectively, this is probably AOTY so far this year.
Askeroff Posted May 16 Posted May 16 my fav from 1st listen Skinny Lunch chihiro LAmour ( the second part) the Dinner its like perfect electronic album Birds of feather i hope its a single 1
Kayseri Mantisi Posted May 16 Posted May 16 i loved this album as an alt pop fan 🩵 my first complaints which might go away later as the album grows: - some songs are like really forced to be longer and they easily could've been shorter - unnecessary transitions on some songs - could've been like 12-13 songs with separating some of the tracks, which would've been better - not better than hte (as of now)
OrgVisual Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Birds of a Feather - not expecting this sound from Billie at all
TalkThatRihanna Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Easily her best album Initial standouts for me were CHIHIRO, Birds of a Feather, and L'Amore I do have to say, I'm so disappointed that the 2nd Half of L'Amore wasn't a full song even though I enjoy the 1st part too. Birds should've been the lead single

GRMusic Posted May 16 Posted May 16 This is easily her most cohesive and best album - it's not even close.
My20sBlues Posted May 16 Posted May 16 My favorite album this year so far, it's everything I expected from Billie, beautiful melodies, more vocal effort and cohesion which HTE lacked a bit 1
