They better keep playing Birds

Sabrina has like 20 songs playing on radio right now. Couldn't they handle 2 Billie songs at the same time on radio? :rip:

They also did it for Sour too with DL/Deja Vu/G4U but that was for her debut, and they tried the same for Guts and it didn't work. But Olivia's music is very mainstream and basically crafted for pop radio.

My theory with the whole Billie and lack of radio thing is when she came out swinging in 2019 pop music didn't sound like WWAFA at all and especially on the radio so it was like…how do we play this :rip: I still remember how they took months to play bad guy consistently and at that point it had been Top 5 for awhile. And pop radio didn't even touch WTPO until bad guy was inescapable. Her music was just so different. Now pop music has kind of caught up to her, but even still it's no surprise that her biggest pop radio hit since bad guy has been Birds because it's an undeniable pop song unlike her other singles that aren't all that mainstream and lean more alternative.

There is still a specific pop radio archetype that Billie rarely ever fits into and without major push like a Republic would give, Interscope just kinda lets it grow organically and if it's rejected they won't care. Possibly because they also know that Billie will make the most money for them with touring, album sales, and streaming so they don't feel the need to invest on radio since she's already a household name. That and she's never tried to be a pop star. She's clearly the anti-pop star (even though that isn't her intention to be she just is) of this generation who's been able to go against the grain and still be one of the biggest artists in the world. So yeah it's frustrating but it also highlights how organic her demand is.

Exactly, I also remember her team saying in an interview that at the very beginning of her career radios didn't want to play her music because it was "too depressed", so they decided to invest in playlists on spotify, that's why she released some remixes of her first songs, so they could put those remixes in random playlists.

POP:
1 1 BILLIE EILISH BIRDS OF A FEATHER 15800 15761 39 38.504
-6 Spins
+74 Bullet
+0.025 Audience

HOT AC:
4 3 BILLIE EILISH BIRDS OF A FEATHER 4928 4673 255 14.881
+45 Spins
+24 Bullet
+0.208 Audience

AC:
11 10 BILLIE EILISH BIRDS OF A FEATHER 351 201 150 0.991
+10 Spins
-15 Bullet
+0.015 Audience

There is a lot of room for growth on both HAC and AC, at the very least another +5M audience from these two formats. They better pull through.

I'm enjoying this smashery this era but a radio smash is all we need.

WWAFA had BG and HTE had TIA. I'm shocked that BOAF isn't at 70-100M+ audience, considering how huge and radio friendly it is. :suburban:

anyone know how it's doing on callouts?

Radio airplay was bigger back then. Now a #1 on POP radio barely gets 45m audience. The song needs to be a huge crossover to Rhythmic, Urban and Country format to get 80m-100m audience nowadays. Unfortunately BOAF is more of a pure pop song and that alone cut its chance to be played on Alternative.

Well Alternative radio is nothing. I just wish it would peak with like 80M audience at least..

This week vogue cover. SNL in a week. 3 MSG shows next week.

If they put out some vinyls and cassettes or instrumental versions idk this could be it.

Perfect timing nothing major is happening (II don't think not sure)

I want WILD to keep smashing but BOAF needs to be on top till the Grammys voting period at least.

Interscope will literally sometimes even pull other pop girls' singles from radio when they have more than one of them releasing simultaneously. :suburban:

They possibly have different strategies for different regions. It's a good sign that they sent it to the UK radio.

Thanks. But this means it's now considered a single?

Usually when BBC puts a song on their playlist means that is a single.
