Billie Eilish - 'HIT ME HARD AND SOFT'

You guys should check out this interview! The questions are SO good, and Magazine interviewers need to take some notes, I'm afraid

One thing I love about the promo of HMHAS was that putting out no single till the release of the album has put a lot of focus on the album itself, rather than the singles. Every interview I've seen of this era covers questions that are focused on the deep cuts and non-singles of the record. It's a genius move and highlights the beauty of the album as a body rather than focusing on the singles which don't even represent half of the album

HTE is such an enchanting and underrated record. I treasure it so much since It became the soundtrack to my life when quarantine was at its last leg and the world started opening up. I began envisioning an optimistic future for myself again and it was the most positive stage in my life (April 2021-July 2022). At the same time, I did feel lonely as the majority of my friends left school and it was just my best friend and I for a while. The themes of growth, loneliness, feeling like a worse version of yourself, and love resonated deep within me (Getting Older, My Future, Halley's Comet, Everybody Dies, Your Power, HTE, and Male Fantasy). This album normalized my feeling of growth looking scary at a fragile period of my life.

I'll never forget coming home from work around 22:00, opening my laptop and listening to Happier Than Ever while I play Pokemon Platinum. Summer of 2021 is such a nice memory, I'll cherish it forever

And that's only 7h of tracking after the upload for Spotify, so it'll definitely have gone up a lot today too. It already did 5k more on Sunday vs last week (1.55M vs 1.545M), and now 55k more on Monday (1.776M vs 1.721M)

After chihiro and the 2 singles it's the song with the best performance on the charts, so I hope it becomes the next single. But I think it will take a while, we still need the boaf music video.

Wildflower performance is doing WONDERS, especially since the song was already holding up so well. :clap3:

It should be the next single in late September/October for sure. I can already imagine her performing BOAF + Wildflower on SNL (and other shows with two promo slots)

I'm right there with you besties

Summer/Fall 2021 was such a specific time for me - I was going through A LOT of changes in my personal life, moving out of my city, distancing myself from a toxic friend group, and overall feeling very introspective and anxious about my future. HTE was like a warm blanket at the time, especially with the more existential songs like My Future, Getting Older, and Everybody Dies. It was exactly what I needed to hear at that time. :heart2:

Something about that album is so vulnerable and HUMAN coming from such a young massive popstar. Like, it's shocking that she was able to write such poignant songs as Your Power and Everybody Dies at the age of 18. It still baffles me to see how underrated it is amongst the GP and some of her fans.

This whole album dropped during a really rough time in my life so it's hard to listen back to it but I will always be able to appreciate songs like My Future, Your Power, BBN, and HTE. Very underrated album that I think will get its true flowers one day. Crazy how she was 18 making this.

Performance impact but it's also a part of a trend on Tiktok. Just pure organic stability :clap3:

HTE was VERY much overly hated. No way that masterpiece of an album warranted so much hate and some went too far as to say it was a sophomore slump. I'm parroting some of you, but it was indeed a comforting album when I needed it the most. I remember my mental health being at an all time low at the time and as soon as I listened to Getting Older I started crying cause that's exactly how I was feeling at the time. Ugh, Billie, you will forever be one of the greatest artists alive

I have just now read your post and I can relate to this so much, you have no idea… I also had moved cities at the time and was starting a new job with people I didn't know. I was leaving my old job that ruined my mental health and this album helped me so much.
