shelven Posted May 17 Share Posted May 17 After listening to the album a few times, I've realized the middle section of Blue (starting with the "you were born bluer than a butterfly" line until right before the final chorus starts) might be my favourite moment in her entire discography It's so incredibly haunting and mesmerizing and it moves through so many emotional and unexpected vocal, lyrical and melodic choices in a way that feels so seamless. I am getting tired of her same old trope of having a slow start in a song and then having interesting/unique productions locked to the last minute. I don't know why she keeps doing this. I think because it's not really two short songs stuck together at any point on this album, it's more well thought out shifts. To me, this is a kind of refreshing jump back to some of the greats of old (think Zappa or In the Court of the Crimson King).
