shelven Posted May 17 Posted May 17 After listening to the album a few times, I've realized the middle section of Blue (starting with the "you were born bluer than a butterfly" line until right before the final chorus starts) might be my favourite moment in her entire discography It's so incredibly haunting and mesmerizing and it moves through so many emotional and unexpected vocal, lyrical and melodic choices in a way that feels so seamless. It catches me by surprise every time I listen even though I know it's coming now. 8

Timeless Posted May 17 Posted May 17 She is so dumb for gatekeeping that excellent production only at the last minute of L'AMOUR DE MA VIE..... we NEED an entire album with this sound 3 1

Bamboo Posted May 17 Posted May 17 (edited) The melody on Quote You say no one knows you so well But every time you touch me, I just wonder how she felt Valentine's Day, cryin' in the hotel I know you didn't mean to hurt me, so I kept it to myself Is just so so good Edited May 17 by Bamboo

starsailor Posted May 18 Posted May 18 this album is beyond amazing. I'm happier than ever with it! Billie, you can't stop winning! Talent is everything! Birds of Feather is my favorite from now, but the 10 tracks are amazing! Fantastic! 10/10
DeadInside Posted May 18 Posted May 18 2 hours ago, Gaia said: I'm so annoyed they're pushing lunch for the shock factor when Chihiro is clearly the song that would impress mostly listeners and draw people in Lunch is more radio friendly (though the lyrics may be a bit too much lol) than Chihiro. Chihiro is too long and doesn't have a clear radio edit like HTE did. 3
Timeless Posted May 18 Posted May 18 This album would've truly benefitted from having some of these songs split into two separate tracks. I am getting tired of her same old trope of having a slow start in a song and then having interesting/unique productions locked to the last minute. I don't know why she keeps doing this. It is literally so frustating as a listener.
Bamboo Posted May 18 Posted May 18 So many of these songs having an insane production outro Chihiro, Bittersuite Bittersuite kind of the only one not hitting me hard or soft yet, but I think that's partially because its so far into the album. I'll have to revisit
Bamboo Posted May 18 Posted May 18 I normally hate songs that are essentially two short songs stuck together, but it does not really bother me on this album too much.

I think because it's not really two short songs stuck together at any point on this album, it's more well thought out shifts. To me, this is a kind of refreshing jump back to some of the greats of old (think Zappa or In the Court of the Crimson King). Edited May 18 by dalladallamallamalla a word 2
Billionaire Posted May 18 Posted May 18 I can see Lunch being the TIA (immediate radio-friendly chart hit) while Chihiro is the HTE (fan favorite with far better longevity and keeps the album afloat) 9
