Kelly Rowland handles Cannes security

It's because the person stepped on her dress, and Kelly politely told her she stepped on it. So, in response, the person laughed and did it again, and she got her ass. As she should have.

I feel for her on a few tips with this, because even in rightfully advocating for herself, it's kind of a lose-lose.

Whether security stepped on her dress, were rushing her along, or both, she's in her full rights to have voiced her annoyance.

She's literally music royalty (maybe not in a contemporary, competitive sense), but DC's receipts and eternal popularity are no joke. She's also a name with stock in her own right.

They would not have even done that to Tyla IMO, so giving "Kelly Rowland" the "hurry up and keep it moving" treatment is disrespectful af. As a celeb, there are so many technicalities that matter on carpets such as making sure the dress, jewelry etc are photographed properly and enough. Kelly was literally walking with the people who provided her with both.

And the way security were hurrying her literally watched as so unnecessary and team too much.

The issue, though, is that because people are so ready, willing, and wanting to clown her, she's an unfair target for those electing to move dumb. So, had she kept smiling and her being hurried went viral, she'd get clowned. If she pops off, like she did, she gets clowned. It's a bizarre kinda lose-lose. So I'm here for her standing her ground.

Anyone willfully pretending not to see how gracious, kind, and regal she was all the way up to the "that" moment is objectively being dizzy, dense, and a hater. Something CLEARLY happened and was happening to warrant that. So save the "2nd lead vocalist" or "Chris Brown supporter" critiques.

It looks like the guard stepped on her dress? Still, we don't know what warranted the response. Hopefully she wasn't being out of line.

They have a bunch of people they have to guide and assist in these events. They do this to everyone. Movie events like the Oscars and Cannes have a different way of doing things than the Grammys and Met Gala where celebrities can just do whatever.

Be that as it may, she is entitled to her feelings, she felt disrespected and she got annoyed after giving the guide social cues to back off. Kelly has been on red carpets for 25+ years, she is not new to this concept.

What's the green room drama?

She's unprofessional. She'll be thrown out of the industry before she knows it and she'll blame everyone but herself.

These high profile events like this have their own security and I feel like they really are always so pushy, I'm surprised more celebs don't get mouthy with them.

so, does anyone have the audio of what was being said and why Kelly got upset?

She said Work (Freemasons Remix) is a 7.5/10 instead of an 8.5.

that guard needs to be fired :biblio:

unprepared and unprofessional. Kelly doesn't get out of character unless she has a reason

It took her 10 business days to walk up the stairs and they have a very tight schedule for celeb walks. More than one guard told her to keep it moving.

I dunno… this might be strike three.

She's giving the same energy as when she called Freddy a ph@ggot. I can tell that's the same finger she uses when a phag looks at her the wrong way.

Sis be making it a bigger deal than it probably was. Get over yourself. Be thankful you even got an invite to the carpet.

Trash take.

I really wonder if some of yall consume entertainment with a "real life" lens. Because had you been disrespected in a similar context in "real life" I wonder if you'd have such a laxed, "be happy to be here" mentality.

No clue what race you are, but I'm struggling not see this as having a racial undertone. Black women (and Black people in general) are often told to have a "be happy to be here" mentality...even if it means being disrespected.

Again, TRASH TAKE.

She had the courage to do what lots of us members of a minority are afraid to do. I respect her for that.

The security guard more likely than not deserved it.
