The event will take place on February 2, 2025, with nominations being announced on November 8th. This year's eligibility period runs from September 16, 2023 through August 30, 2024. It does hover around 12 months (this year will be 11.5 months) but it changes almost every year (some have been 11 months and another 13 months of eligibility). When the recording academy was being created, the reasoning was to left music linger throughout the year because "you can't judge the record of the entire year if your record is only 2 months old". Check out "Broken Record: The Story of the Grammy Awards" by Henry Schipper, it's all about the history of the Grammys and it's a fascinating read.
