Wasn't his first smash a country crossover ? I mean he owes his whole success to the genre. He needs to take several seats.

I mean he kinda switched it up himself by going full on devil route which wasn't even worth it. He should have doubled down on the country sound .

I get what he means, but I honestly think he would've flopped if he went the OTR route. Panini and Montero being so different sonically helped him escape one-hit-wonder status.

His song was bigger than beys (no shade) so I don't know what he's talking about really :deadbanana2:

i hate when people say things like this. stop wishing others people anything, just work and do your thing.

you had your success Lil, with like 3 or 4 smash hits, be grateful and work to get more.

Also nothing's stopping him from pursuing country again, he's proven that he can get hits with different genres and clearly the CMBYN formula isn't working anymore i.e. his latest single flopping.

he needs to switch to cuntry after flop like Dua :gayoncecat3: :gayalipacat5:

I mean he stopped doing the country shtick after two (2) songs so

I think he's referring to the original resistance from country radio to support the song until Billy Ray Cyrus was featured on it.

It still doesn't really make sense because OTR was massive even without country support, and Bey also experienced pushback from country radio.

This is like hoping and praying to become a lawyer or something without actually putting in the effort to go to law school lol. Like you can wish for Bey level succes all you want but at the same time, you decided to pull out cheap gimmicks and chase mediocre hits instead of actually prioritizing to become a actual artist. Now you are stuck relying on the played out Satanic imagery bs that no one cares about anymore. After OTR smashed, you should've taken some vocal lessons, do some networking in the Americana / Country scene and wrote some meaningful music instead of twerking on Satan. Now Shaboozey is about to really take advantage of that lane that was destined for you.

Why is he pretending like he ever wanted to be part of the country zeitgeist…or that Bey even is

He had the biggest #1 song of all time with his country debut then immediately abandoned the genre:rip:

He's probably regretting going the viral gimmick route since that path has dried up for him.

Y'all got selective memory about this song, how it was received and the backlash he got.

He's right to feel this way.

They not perceived the same, even tho now mfs like Morgan Wallen are getting hits with that Country Trap sound and he even doing collabs with people like Lil Durk and nobody says anything.

I think he's right to be annoyed with how country radio treated him, but I don't think Bey or Shaboozey's positions are really enviable. They both hovered just inside the Top 40 on country radio while he peaked at #50. It's not like the country music community has rolled out the welcome mat for any of them. Nas also has a CMA award to his credit, which the others may not acquire.
