She didn't. She worked with Dallas during stripped and tbh he dated for a bit and it ended badly. He later accused her for sleeping around to get tracks which make sense since she already had 4 number 1s before she met him . It likely would've made stripper do to how pop it was it would've fit. 

 

So this song had to be written in 2000 or 2001. When he was working with Christina on stripped. Also due to the fact tlc recorded which had to be around 3d which came out in 2002 and recorded in late 2001 to 2002.

The video literally says the song was written for Christina, inspired by Gwen, whilst the writer/producer broke up with his TLC girlfriend. TLC went to record it. The session was messy. Gwen eventually got the track.
