Madonna / Mariah are quite tied on actual albums sales in the US, both at above 80 million.

Streisand is the biggest female albums artist in the US at 95m.

CM:

71,260,000 - Madonna

72,828,000 - Mariah Carey

41,874,000 - Taylor

Please feel free to join us in the twenty-first century, wherein the only albums purchased are collectibles and 90% of consumption is through streaming :heart2:

I don't have much units about album units but if I'm understanding things correctly, she basically sold 100 million album units across 10 albums? So Taylor sells 10 million copies per album? That's awesome.

She is if combine TV and original. Red, Speak Now is gonna be diamond

Its a valid point since the TV is just like a reissue.

The TV is gonna help debut and rep go diamond.

Fearless and 1989 original is diamond albums on their own, the TV is just extra unit.

Midnights and lovers is also approaching diamond stt.

Folklore is a long way but will get there eventually.

Poor evermore

How much did Madonna sold in the US? Doesn't 100 million make Taylor the best-selling female artist now?

these #s start in 1991...Madonna's 80s sales aren't included

Madonna is certified for 65.5m albums, and since her career started before Luminate/Soundscan, it's probably best to rely on that figure. For singles, a combination of certifications and reported sales puts her somewhere in the range of 45m singles sales, which breaks down to something like 10m album units (due to the large portion of her singles sales that were physical singles, which count for more of an album due to their higher price). With streaming and extraneous sales accounted for, we can conclude that Madonna sits at roughly 80m album equivalent units in total career consumption in the US.

I believe that Mariah is higher than Madonna, as she's certified for 75m album units alone, but I haven't done the breakdown on her exact figures. She likely hasn't hit 100m album equivalent units in the US, but she's the certainly next closest.

I think it's virtually guaranteed that this makes Taylor the most-consumed woman in US music history.
